100%. Koula never breaks the line. In open space he can score tries, but so can Jason Saab, even faster and can jump for bombs off DCE. Koula is short, small and pound for pound good defender, but he would be terrible choice to play fullback. ( he has no chance as the last line of defence) .Koula is also not confident catching high balls. A much overrated player. his best postion is wing. why Tommy Talau is wasted is just crazy. Talau would be a much much better centre than Koula.

A bad week for Manly could be about to get a whole lot worse with fan favourite Reuben Garrick set to go to the open market on November 1 - and believed to be in the sights of Perth.

It's tough times for Manly fans, smashed by arch rivals the Bulldogs on Sunday, losing strike forward Haumole Olakau'atu for the season in the process and facing the prospect of prop Josh Aloiai having to medically retire.

Now they have a new crisis with in-form utility back Garrick unable to come to terms for a new deal.

Garrick is contracted to the club until the end of 2026 but unless the club can sign him before November 1, rival clubs can pounce.

Personally id let him go he is on decent coin that way we could invest more in the forwards.. We have Tommy Talau and Clayton Faulalo who are just as good in my opinion

ALSO Jamal Fogarty would replace Ruben as goal kicker anyway.

Think that Rueben is on about 600 - 650 K now so not sure if it can warrant much more or maybe just marginally with an increased cap .
Saab is signed until 29 on probably just over half this amount , Koula probably in the 400 or also slightly more range
Point being for team cap balance , irrespective of his important input in the club now [ including goal kicking ] and for some time , hard to be able to offer much more then what he is currently apparently on .
Maybe the loyalty factor will not be playing a role as it probably did when he knocked back a no doubt appealing offer from the Knights some seasons ago but would hope that it still could

In an ideal world we would never lose Garrick but being realistic here - last time he was up for negotiations we gave him an increased deal to fend off the Knights interest, and to give him a move to the centres. After a shaky 1.5 years there he is back on the wing, where he is very good but still highly paid for the position.

We're essentially in the same position again, only this time we now do have evidence of Reuben playing in the centres, we have more depth in the outside backs with Talau/Faulalo/Willett AND Fogarty coming in who goal kicks at a higher rate than him anyway. He's a great clubman and it would suck to see him leave, but personally I wouldn't even keep him on his current salary and Perth could potentially offer even more.

I'd be disappointed, he seems joined at the hip with Dce and maybe has the same feeling of wanting to get out of the club.

If he left, manly would know who to send their attack to when they play against him.

I will be personally very sorry to see The Rubes leave, but from his point of view taking the Perth money is a good move. He is also a great pick up for them as essentially he provides cover against any recruiting problems at FB, WI or CE, he can cover all of them. I can admit the sense of it.
