There's an interview with Hoppa Snr yesterday in the SMH headed "I'm the crash test dummy: John Hopoate reflects on the life lesson that was lost on jailed son Jamil". I'm technically challenged but if anyone's interested, he talks about his eldest son Will and jailed son Jamil. An excerpt:
"I've always told my kids 'I'm the crash-test dummy', and what I've done is for you guys to see, so you don't follow me," 'Hopoate snr told the publication. "They say the apple doesn't fall far from the tree, and when it comes to my second son, Jamil, he fell in my lap. He's in jail now."
With Will and Jamil it's a case of from one extreme to the other. Unfortunately Jamil got his father's genes...
