Lol look at me peddling the stereotype that Canberra is not an enjoyable town. I shouldnt assume all Manly fans live here on the beaches. Sorry Ralphie

Agree the housing is expensive, but I live 50 minutes from the CBD on 140 acres that I bought for about a third of what it costs for a 1 bedroom garden flat in Manly.

All good LE, but please keep up the rhetoric, I really do want you and the others to stay away.:D

I've got nothing against canberra but surely most of those low unemployment , high wage, etc etc stats are simply due to it being the city of the government.

My house would be pretty good too if I could use taxpayers cash to build both it and the surrounding infrastructure.

But again, always enjoyed my few times I've been there. *smiles*

PS: Nothing more to add re gifty since post 14.

God yes. The most boring town in Australia. Even the delights of porn and fireworks at Fyshwick couldnt get me there. Northern Beaches instead thanks

For the record, Canberra has the highest standard of living in the country of any major city, the best facilities, the lightest traffic, the longest life expectancy. The lowest unemployment. There is something on every weekend from car shows to country fairs. The restaurants are world class and the crime rate extremely low. We are a short drive to the snow and a short drive to the South Coast. The Schools and Universities are world class.

My guppies live in a tank with temperature controlled and filtered water, meals are delivered on time and of excellent nutrition and taste, the view from the tank of the beach at Woolgoolga is breath taking and their room is fully serviced and cleaned to perfection.

But Ralphie, I suspect they still want to live in the real world.

I believe the Canberra deal is done.
Very unfortunate, but that's footy.

I the last 5 weekends I have been in

Melbourne
Sydney
Canberra
Gold Coast

Anyone want to rank them.

Melbourne has the most wanks living there.
You don't get many wanks at the GC because of all the prostitution.
Sydney, being the gay capital, would have more than its fair share of wanks.
Canberra, well....all the porn and politicians. Say no more.

Ooops....sorry. You said RANK. My bad

I'm a Manly fan living in Humpty Doo (Darwin), I suppose that could be Northern beaches.
Although, this time of year the waters full of
Box Jelly fish.
Expensive housing? Try Darwin. Robbery.

I live in Canberra and I can't tell you much I appreciate your sentiments. The more that people believe what you say the less likely they are to come here and that suits me just fine.

Yep, it's just awful, I don't know why I stay here, but I really urge you and all the others to stay where you are.

Edit: You haven't been able to get fireworks here for years.

We'll said ralphie.

Ralphie, as a fellow Canberran I couldn't agree more.

The only thing that I dislike about Canberra is that Manly doesn't play the vs Canberra away game here every year.:)

Yeah, you're still a Southerner to some mate :p Try living in Bamaga! Beautiful northern beaches, seafood everywhere and if you need housing, nail a tarp and a piece of roofing iron to a tree! TV reception is not that flash, but the living expenses are virtually nil. A nice place to visit, but I still wouldn't want to live there :p

To live or for a weekend?
There is some great spots in Sydney but there is also the entire bulldogs catchment area.
Melbourne: once you have lived anywhere else it will never rank above the other place.
Canberra um no.
Goldie? well surfers is the toilet of the GC but it's weather is hard to beat, all year round so if you like being outside it wins hands down- just be prepared for EARLY sun rises.

With no more fireworks and the death of the porn industry Canberra will make a nice quiet place to live and less wankers around.

Haha! Yeah those early sunrises catch a few visitors off side. In CQ here, in Summer it's sunrise 5/5.30am - sunset 7pm. Daylight savings?? Yeah right!

Summer sunrise on the GC is way before 5am.
In my previous job I worked in nth nsw and GC. It was ridiculous!

Ah Woolgoolga, all of my family live there and I too lived there for a while. A pretty place but too much humidity for me, each to their own.

Haha, right. I used to do the Cattle Station life for years, basic living.
But, the bride wanted to move to town,
Humpty Doo. Gotta keep the women happy.
We still get Stingers, cyclones & crocs, same as anywhere across Northern Australia.

I couldn't follow Manly much then, but now I'm back into it.

Crocodile, Stingers, etc. crazy days.
Later moved to Humpty Doo.
