Until the NRL becomes a financial powerhouse over the SL and RU, a draft might be put on ice till then. The NBA can use the draft for this reason, whereas the AFL uses the draft because there isnt a close enough sport which has the same skillset. Although pro basketballers can transition to AFL although very far and few between.
