Jamal Fogarty

Walsh and Fogarty should be our starting halves next year. IMO Brooksy’s inconsistent form and lack of game management makes him a back up half or dummy half. It would be a huge mistake to be parking Walsh in reserve grade next year similar to the mistake of not playing Navale in the 17 until the last 3 games this year. Seibold needs to start getting these decisions right.

My expectation if Walsh progresses like we all hope is that Brooks will leave a year early and Walsh will be a perm starter in 27.

At 600k and with new teams incoming I wouldnt see us having to cover any of Brooks either.
Absolutely, brooks is such a safe bet. Probably 3or 4 clubs will take brooks and extend the years i reckon after 26

Let it play out i say, walsh has to earn it, injury can happen to anyone, anytime

The only place where I see Fogarty as a downgrade on DCE (the 37 year old version of DCE) is field goal kicking. The squad will really need some strategies for that.

Disagree.

Brooks and Fogarty start the season.

If Walsh busts down the door then he comes in but he needs to earn it.

Sure that that is the way it is going to play out at least initially
Bit hard to make a concise comparison between them on playing styles or benefit to the side at this stage
Brooksie still with a good go and show but tends to be nullified against better organized defences
Tackling largely holding up but game management wise and also against good level opposition , maybe still not his strong suit
Walsh "s all round game stats in his N S W cup outings , quite impressive and should not have much difficulty managing a 6 role
Not even sure at this stage trying to use him as a game day 14 for instance where his playing opportunities could be quite limited
Going to be a delicate situation again if he is pretty much up to N R L standard and seriously in line for a half 's starting position and up for grabs after Nov the i st , 26

Chez has a far superior passing game and although he doesn’t really take the line in the traditional sense anymore, his speed in support makes him a more dangerous attacking proposition.

Fogarty has some genuine toe as well , well used to be quite noticeable in Q cup games and doubt if he has dropped much at all if anything since then
Pretty neat step to evade Walsh the other day as well
You would see a heap more club action then me so not really in a position to make a comparison on their individual passing attributes
D C E had a fair swerve but rarely saw him make a decent break or trouble the opposition in the general or just off the ruck area

Fogarty's ability to game manage will allow Brooks to play what is in front of him and I would have Joey Walsh on the bench as an impact player.

We need a game manager so badly, since Foran was pushed out its been a big struggle to manage tight games.

He is notorious for being run down by Josh Papalii

Honestly I know far less than most on here about the game.

All I know he is a different player / style than DCE which means there will be flow on effects to the rest of the team and how we play.

As an example will the players outside of the Fog get more early ball than they would have from DCE? Will our long kicking game go backwards?

Good or bad who knows?

At least we will have something different to look forward to for at least the first 4 weeks of the year
