Joey Walsh

Just an awkward time a few months ago when trying to find a ready made 7 to replace D C E was a priority and Joey Walsh taking a while to find his feet with those early season and preparation setbacks .
Not to say that another 7 would not have been sought even if Walsh was showing indications as he is now of progressing well but may have tempered the contract length consideration of a half replacement
In that 3 years for Fogarty does still seem on the excessive side and especially in regard to trying to elevate Walsh A S A P in i st grade if he keeps his current improvement going .
Then while also having some setbacks , indications of Large being a star of the future .
Thought a couple of weeks ago that Brooks may be able to transition to a possible utility and 9 role into next season but maybe not such a likely outcome if he can again [ like last game ] show a good form level at 6 and for some time yet .
A Walsh - Large halfs combo in the not too distant future does have some real appeal for sure and would think season 27 not out of the question .
Then somehow to reconcile Fogarty and Brooks still on the books and new teams in the comp just on the horizon .
All not helped again by D C E antics from the end of last season .
Obviously need or require the most competitive halfs combo going forward ,
Guess that logic would say Fogarty and Brooks next season but following that , could well be a very different dynamic

I think having a surplus of halves is a good thing with multiple new teams coming in. We could quite easily move on brooks or Fogarty to one of these sides to fill that established and mature playmaker role.

May well result in some delicate balancing outcomes including some freight considerations but of course not always ideal there .
Guess that it may come down to Walsh simply being able to offer a bit more then Fogarty even allowing for Fogarty apparently playing a fairly steady hand now .
Large with his undoubted speed factor could be very formidable though Brooks is no slouch with speed off the mark, just that Large could be another version of Burton but with quite a bit more speed [ kicking game another matter ]

I think most "gun" young halfs experience several years of rocks and diamonds ... I recall Matty Johns once saying that it takes about 60 NRL games before a half knows his own game ...

Walsh and Large seem to be the right stuff .. but let's be patient and be prepared to ride the ups and downs of their progress ..

Lmao, been here long? It's feast or famine baby!!

Walsh had another good game yesterday with 72 run metres, 2 try assists, 1 line break & 22 tackles with 0 misses. I think most people agree that Brooks doesn’t deserve a week for his ‘dangerous tackle’ on Graham at the end of the game but it was put on report so there is a chance he gets a suspension. Not sure id debut him against a team like Storm but with Arthur gone would there be any other options?

Happy to give him a shot. However, the conservative option would be Wakeham. Or even froggy.
