What a difference having Jorge Taufua with his runs in early tackles. Takes a hell of a lot of pressure off the forwards to get back onside and take a hit up.

Little too much ball work from the forwards for my liking. Let’s just smash it up for the first 15 in second half. We are a much better pack than them, let’s get a roll on and beat them up a bit. Gotta cut out the rubbish penalties and errors. Play smart this second half and we finish over the top of these guys. They are only in this because of the whistle.

Its a damm shame Walker got injured. Missing his x factor i thk. Jake has been massive apart from that last tackle run. Turbos dangerous lookin good. Pretty happy apart from the penalty leg ups that are keeping the knights in it. Else they got nothing so far.

Lane is having a very impressive stint in this first half. He looks to have a lot more intent and mongrel compared to last year.

Yep. he's put on quite a few kg's as well.

A fairly decent first half of footy for the start of the new season.
Forwards have been very good, though Joel quiet and Sirro having a bit of a shocker. Lachie was solid and happy with his performance so far given the circumstances... not to mention, a great hit on Guerra while defending our line that forced an error.

AFB looked beast on the field. He and Kapow were skittlling them with runs.

Croker looks solid. Will do a job, and he's a big body.

The game is there for the Trbojevics.

Knights crowd not always able to be resisted by refs - kinda understandably - yet still we hang in there.
Pleased with the effort - of course they're a little rusty. Siro is the only one having a bit of an ordinary game so far.
Fingers crossed for the second half. We look the better team - need to score a couple early to take the crowd out of it.

Knights cant score without the refs help.

We just need to not give away obvious things - the will still find 5 in the ruck even though there are far worse the other way but the Knights are the new NRL special child as shown by the intro and first couple of sets where Lillymen fell asleep on us then woke up and rotated back into position over our player but no penalty and next set they get one for something pissweak.

Me summery - Manly on top awesome defence mainly crisp attack refs fick us over early on, Croker lovely passes, Lane my boy almost perfect, DCE 10/10, Api not quite his best but good. Taufua welcome back AFB so strong Jake 9.5/10, as a team great defence fairly crisp attack fist gsme in Manly on top if we get a few penalties here Manly by 12 ha ha. Turbo looking great Uate, no bad players Wright Kelly good defend over all intensity great We are the better team only refs can rob us!

I thought we were pants myself. Hopefully we do better second half.

What that shows me is that its only the piggy back penalties and a couple of lapses in defence that is keeping Newcastle in this right now.
