The commentators based their belief that it was a knock on on two factors.
1. Ref's always call that sort of play a knock on.
2. The player looked guilty.
No mention of the actual fact that the ball went backwards off the hand.

Out of range up in the Bunya Mountains for the last 3 nights , so only got the score when I came down the mountain this morning and have now watched the game.
