Team Lists

Yeah I saw last nites game and Tiges threw plenty at the Raiders. They sure seem like a team on the improve. Hopefully they have a bit of a letdown after a couple of big efforts lately that have failed to get the chocolates.

Interesting that sportsbet has odds up for R17 games except for the Manly-tigers game. Waiting to see the fallout from Manly's crisis? 😱

(grumble responsibly)
Interesting indeed, after watching Wednesday nights debacle anything’s possible, side note, sports gambling is a pox.

Sadly I think the Tigers will be more motivated than letdown, they have a side capable of making the eight, a win against us has them back on the edge of the eight and jumping over us. Let’s hope miracles do happen, we win and it’s us back on the edge of the 8………..

Another concern to ideally address A S A P: is the sides inability over the past couple of games to score points on a more consistent basis
The key word from your post is Consistent feathered friend
The Top coaches have their team on top because they have them attacking and defending better more consistently
Mediocre coaches will get you a win here and there . But they wont get you any where near competing consistently for a Grand final Challenge
A coach is Critical to a teams progress
Winning is won in a players heads before the game starts
Great Mentors have the ability to have a positive and Inspiring affect on their players

Tigers have lost their last 5 games.

Manly lost to Dragons when they were in a slump.
Manly lost to Parra when they were last to kick start their season.
Manly lost to Newcastle after they had multiple loses and about to be 2nd last
Manly lost to spoon Titans

Will Manly play the Tigers back onto form? 🤔

I think I will give up if we lose to this spoon team.

Maybe the only way we get the change that is needed is to lose to the tigers at home.

As much as I think Seibold is a completely clueless coach, I want Manly to win.

However, the team will perform how they have been coached and motivated, unless DCE does his own thing and wins it for Manly. .

We shall see i guess.

They took it to one of the competition heavy weights and almost got the Job done, I tipped them to make the 8 at the start of the year, they have a good side, on the up and building, if they fix their discipline and address their start to games, they will be playing semi final footy in the not to distant future.

Can’t see us beating them to be honest, their style of footy is the worst kind for our pack and the teams overall defence, the other department they will towel us up in, is the 80 minute effort, pretty bloody sad when you can’t even see us beating the Tig’s at Brookie, the Fainu’s will be looking forward to this one, one thinks.
Yeah I glanced their past results yesterday and although they’ve lost plenty it’s been by small margins since that 64-0 belting in Melb. Not sure we’ve won a close one all year.

I’ve watched every game they’ve played this year, they are a better side than most think and their results thus far suggest, when or if they address their lack of discipline and cut the errors in their game, (which partially come from the brand of footy they play) there going to win plenty of games.

Not sure we’ll win this one either, they have a good 80 minute game and that’s the part the worries me, that and there a mobile side that likes to through the ball around, a lot will hinge on our D, which doesn’t exactly inspire at the moment.

Yeah the game v Melb seems to have been an anomaly for them this year. It’s going to be tough for us. Only thing we have in our favor is the Tigers have lost a lot of close ones and eventually that takes a toll and they may be susceptible for an off night. If we match them in the forwards we should win. Home crowd will need to stand up here.

Still think there is a good chance that Turbo will be playing FB. All depends on how he trains during the week, I for one hope he does.

Very challenging week coming up , not the least being able to try and get the best competitive side available out there come Fri night and let alone actually being able to win it
Big call [ well actually real big call ] with a possible switch to the centres for Turbo and Garrick logically back to wing and how that dynamic may play out .
Even have an inkling that Talau could even be a better fit in the centres with Koula right now but other factors in play right now also
Doen "t seem overly encouraging still , going by yesterday 's N S W cup outcome with Waddell on an edge .
Again would go with Bully there to make up for Ola "s absence as a better option
Maybe the time again for Jake to revert to prop and Jazz at 13 and Brown or Navale off the bench to also cover the 13 role Brown and Jazz are more then capable of coving a prop role as well if needed
Simpkin to start as the 9 maybe more helpful as well .
Would then leave a prop grouping on these scenarios of Jake , T K O , Sipley and Waddell , maybe not that inspiring but not a lot of ideal options right now and the Tigers pack not the worst going around just on paper as another reality check

Seeing as though we don't actually have a forward pack at the moment, this is where I think we are well and truly disadvantaged. With Api at hooker and Luai in the halves, we will be in trouble. If ever the Tigers have reason to be confident heading into a match outside of Leichhardt, this is it.

Some interesting points mate. Team list Tuesday will be very interesting that’s for sure.

Don 't undervalue some of the good contributions that Garrick has provided as a centre and while not in the highest level of recognition , was included in that late season rep side in 24
But if there does seem a strong enough case for Turbo to try and find some worthwhile form again moving to centre , really not much alternate for some positional switches
Still think that Saab can provide good and important value as a mainstay and long term winger ,
Admittedly on the proviso that his fitness and confidence level is restored but just too many game changing attributes when again , he is right on his game .
Anyway , sure that plenty of Manly supporters will be eagerly awaiting the team selections come Tuesday

Manly's forwards were our main question mark even before the season began.
We needed an extended run at full strength to build some momentum but the early loss of Paseka, and since then Aloia, Haumole, plus missing others such as Croker, Jake, Jazz and Sips has stymied our prospects big-time.

Team selection for this game will be the most challenging yet!

- Crokes has only been back 4 games and gradually building minutes but isn't at his best so don't try to play him for 80. So Simpkins on bench.

- Replacing Haumole is the biggest headache, an 80 minute player. I'd be inclined to try a reserve grade second row, maybe Chee Kam, because we need Waddell to play middle from the bench.

- Jazz has been our most energetic forward from day 1. If fit, he should start lock.

-Sorry Jake, but if you are starting then go to prop and aim to play 50 good minutes (58 last week)

- When Bull starts he's been going OK (zero intimdation factor, but at least does join in the defence) but we miss his punch off the bench.

- Is TKO a bench player? Probably better used as a starter

So I've got
8 Jake
9 Crokes
10 TKO
11 TBA (reserve grade second rower?)
12 Burbo
13 Jazz

14 Simpkin
15 Waddell
16 Brown
17 Navale

Talau and Sipley are the others in the equation but whichever way Seibold goes it will be a gamble.
Talau at right second row??? would be a massive gamble but he's a good player...

edit: Doh ... forgot to include Bull :giggle:
edit edit - I'd put this in the wrong thread, meant to be here
edit edit edit - well I did say it was complicated, clearly too complicated for me!
Losing Haumole has stifled us? He got injured last week?
Croker and Sipley are reserve graders at every other club and if losing them “derail us” then god help us.
Does anyone actually watch Croker play these days? He has zero effect in attack and regularly misses one on one tackles. The obsession with this bloke over the years because he “ tries hard” is exactly what is wrong with this club. 5 years with a converted sub average half as a spine player .
Jake is done. Loved him but watching him play now is embarrassing. Anyone who can’t see that has eyes painted on.

Paseka and Aloia are the only real losses and two injuries is hardly being decimated. We are no better or worse off in that regard than most clubs at various stages of the year.

The difference however with us is that our strategy re forward depth is diligently combing through ranks of the NRL and NSWC to seek out the oldest possible players that become available and pouncing on them.
I’m sure there is a dedicated Sea Eagles employee whose only job is to tracks post 30 birthdates so we never miss the chance to squander 300k on a plodder looking for a chance to enjoy the ambience of a bottom 4 dressing room once more before retirement.

We have the worst pack in the comp with the worst forward depth.
Watch the half dozen young warrior backrowers run around - that’s the way the game is going and has been for 5 years. Missing that simple fact has ended any chance of us being contenders over the next few years , and with the emergence of bears and papua putting 200k extra on the price tag for a young pig, that ain’t going to change.
