Make fun of it all you like. Their team is running 1st overall with a differential of 192, where as Manly's team is coming 12th (out of 13) with a differential of minus 74.
Take that then onto the Youth Competition where they are coming 4th outright, with a differential of 147 vs. Manly's 15th out of 16 with a minus differential of get this after 10 rounds, minus 218.
Shows the true depth of a club really. It's this time of year where depth is truly tested. We are going to be pushed hard through this origin period. We will struggle this week.

Whats wrong with our depth ?
Weve had injuries/suspensions to some of our key personnel, and now 4 major stars out to SOO. Yet we are placed fairly well on the ladder for the year and are fielding a competitive & confident side again this week.

The pups position on the ladder shows they obviously have more than these 3 players stepping up each week.
Keep in mind Pups won the NSW Cup GF last season but not many of those players feature in the top grade in 2012.
For these 3 particular players a GF again in 2012 although in NSW Cup, is as good as it will ever get.....

As a counter, you have mentioned 4 examples. There are 12 other clubs and your comments cover 3 or 4 seasons. What happened to all the other 'gun' u20 teams? Three of your examples cover one team cities (or countries) where you have a bigger pool of young talent to chose from without spending a fortune on importing it.

You can mention a group of players from those teams, that equate to maybe 5 - 10% of all players and teams. I would say that 5 - 10% amounts to "rarely"
U20 depth doesn't guarantee success, it definitely helps. It is nice to be strong in the lower grades, but sometimes you have to many halves and not enough forwards or vice versa. That is why there is a player market.
The best players to purchase are 20-21. If you buy them real young, you risk them not making it. If our 20s were real strong, you have to move first graders on, or let them be poached. It is a balancing act. Don't believe all the hype about our depth and what will happen in 6 years

You can have a whole team of NSW cup players at the top of the ladder but it does not mean any of them will be NRL standard. We may not have a great NSW cup team but we have a few individuals that can actually cut it at NRL level to cover injury's. If NSW cup strength actully counted the Dogs would have won many premierships in the last few years in FG.

It was common knowledge last season Manly didn't use it all.
Read the Brett Stewart interview and you'll see that the elder players have been around since 2003 (if not longer) to me that means two things 1) they are extremely tight and 2) a lot will retire around the same time as well.
I think it's time to start planning for the next wave.
Enjoy this year you whingers. I'm surprised those NSW Cup players for the Dogs don't put them over the cap. It's about time the NRL got rid of the U20s and replaced that game with Reserve grade, or 'Champions League' if they like. Then they'd be a mix of NSW Cup players and U20s and guys coming back from injury. More interest that way. Who gives a damn about the U20s or NSW Cup, outside Newtown tragics.
