We need to keep things in perspective and DONT BELIEVE EVERY RUMOR THAT IS IN THE MEDIA! There is generally a hidden agenda behind a rumor from other clubs or Player Managers or the journalist need to fill some page space.

How many times have they been completely wrong in the past?

Anyway a ‘well placed source’ has told me directly this morning and I quote ‘Marty & Addin are highly valued members of our squad and we look forward to them making a major contribution in 2019’.

As I said yesterday my sauces are better than their sauces!!

I agree, but this is a Manly forum so certainly seems the appropriate place to discuss rumours on Manly.

You can take a rumour with a pinch of salt but still discuss its merits.

Like I personally think talk of swapping Marty or AFB for Foran is a load of hot wind but............................if it happens #sackdes

Think of the actual strike rate of a journo such as Weedler, would it be 20% ??

Bulldog Ritchie was always sprouting Manly stuff , and probably mostly right as he had a direct conduit to the club , but notice now “ the leak” is gone he almost says nothing!!

It's obvious to see the thought process that went into the latest rumour about Foran coming back:

Des & Foran have a good connection + Bulldogs tried to get Foran medically retired (implying they don't want him anymore) = Des wants Foran.

Foran is on huge coin at the dogs + Des wants Foran + Manly salary cap reduction for 2019 = Manly must let another valuable player go to afford Foran.

The thought of AFB leaving makes many a Silvertails cloacka tighten + Foran is busted = doom & gloom for Manly ergo business as usual for the media agenda.

These guys making this rubbish up are hacks either taking stabs in the dark or making mountains out of minor connections that a 6 year old could make.

Is it time to start a new thread for Gorman to see that we want Marty and AFB to stay?
I mean Marty will be playing for all 16 clubs next year and 1 SL club and now the media have decided to throw AFB around as well.
Foran's best is long gone and he's busted. Unless he comes to the club on a budget and as a consultant to the younger guys then I'll have him.
Maybe when the Club propose certain recruitments we can give those players a thumbs up or down. Let the fans decide and Gorman take notice.

I personally disagree.

Most of the time the rumours are true but because they are rumours about "potential" movements, people label them as "made up" when they don't happen.

A good example is the Michael Maguire to Manly rumour. I posted that he was in discussions (it came out two days later in the media) and he ended up signing with Tigers. For some people, that means that it's a made up rumour. Thankfully, in this instance, Maguire himself came out and said he had discussions with Manly.

Unfortunately, clarification from parties is not always the case and posters label the rumour as "made up". I know Taupau was shopped earlier in the year and just because he finished the year with Manly does not mean that it was made up...it just means that no deal was struck and/or he decided to stay.

Often the media get wind of things and yes, managers use the media to their advantage at times but very often the media lets us know that something is on the cards...they seemed to know about Dessie's return before it was officially announced.

If I was a journo, I would post rumours too just to watch some of the flames on ST...they must piss themselves in fits of laughter
