We had an issue with background services between march 10th and 15th or there about. This meant the payment services were not linking to automatic upgrades. But this was almost 3 months ago and no one was the wiser. they've dragged a story back out. The US justice system doesn't care. My annoyance is with roth**** reporting tabloid journalism rather than ever just talking about rugby league. The man doesn't know league strategy or analysis at all. That's what I hate about league media. It dredges for **** stories and froths on them. Same deal as gould talking about the horses with rabbits. Then I watch afl and holy crap they actually talk about footy. I'M ASTONISHED. They defend their game to the ends of the earth and our media just drags it through ****.
see above. 3 months ago. My beef isn't that they did the wrong thing its that journalists should be held accountable. they get put in a very privileged position, why make our game look bad all the time. If this had been left alone, there is no ongoing legal action and they obeyed the laws of the country by paying restitution. The game is only in disrepute because a story has been created.

I have an additional dodgy angle. One that the NRL can't ignore.
How legitimate are overseas "training camps" ? How much training was done? How much of it was an all expenses paid overseas trip that doesn't count under the cap? How much time did they spend in Vegas? What is stopping every club supplementing their players' wages with a $30 grand per head overseas "Training camp" every year?
I will be knocked down with a feather if the premiers did any training at all when on an overseas trip just one month after the grand final win. Party tour.

Now that's a novel way to top up a 3rd party payment, stick $2000 on number 7 on roulette and pay it out at 66-1 regardless of what pops up , take the chips to the banker, get your $132K, pop it in the bank the next day as Gambling winnings and NO TAX.

Wouldn't even have to be that complex. plus that is traceable and anyone standing nearby would know. simply have packer leave 50k of unattended chips at a table in a private function area no witnesses and easy to claim it was "won" at the casino that night. Pay for your house renos in cash

I wouldn't be getting too concerned. My understanding is the NRL had already investigated the assault and cleared BURGESS to be a fit and proper person to play in the NRL They had closed the investigation regarding the assault.
What is now being investigated is the paying this fellow to withdraw his complaint. That is legal in this state of the US of A. So you have to ask yourself what is new?
The real issue is that Souths covered this up. And the NRL acquiesced to a cover up, they were more than happy to be very tight lipped when conducting an investigation into this were they? So tight lipped no one heard a thing. It was very different for 2 Gold Coast Titans players in recent months. The NRL was happy to make statements in the media then? A big please explain is need David "Bunnies" SMITH.
It is just amazing how the media see's a news story about Souths Sydney which paints them in a bad light and just find ways to bad mouth our club and our team. That little coach of ours has been saying it recently. We have had enough of the media's crap. Tis time we hit back.

Altitude training in November for a season that starts in March is pointless. Definitely something dodgy going on.

In fairness that would largely depend on what their program was when returning to Oz. The Eagles undertook and advertised their participation in such simulated training in Jan.
But the cynic in me agrees wholeheartedly- junket city!
Unless by altitude training they meant getting high as a kite?

After the NRL has cleared the players , what penalty could they apply to Burgess now that he is at Manly ? It'd be a massive shyte fight if they forced him to sit out even one game and Manly wont take it lying down ....so how would they even try to punish him under the circumstances ??? Imagine manly having to sit a player out due to an NRL mistake...its happened before.
