Just because we aren't using it this year, does not mean we will not play in that design or a variation of it at some point. Unfortunately we cannot do every different type of jersey possible, every season. As has been mentioned, fans would not be impressed if we played in a different strip every second week.

This year we decided to focus our efforts on our Anzac strip. Our aim with the Anzac jersey is to show the best respect we could to the Anzac spirit. We felt this was done best by the design chosen, rather than altering it with Manly colours.

We have a few more exciting alternate strips still to be revealed. Once they are out there, I hope you agree that we made some good choices.

Cheers,

Larissa

I am keen to get my hands on one of the indigenous jerseys from recent years but none seem to be listed online. Are there any available in the store room? I head off to Africa soon and would love to parade one of those around Zimbabwe.

Anzac day is definitely a bandwagon these days.

I don't reckon. I think there is a genuine respect for the Fallen and a gratitude for what thy did. As an immigrant I also respect how Anzac forces punched far above their weight in the arena of war.

I do however think the VB 'raise a glass' campaign is tacky beyond words and accordingly I boycott the product.

Maybe you are right, but I'm not always convinced that the respect is genuinely heartfelt. These days it seems Kokoda and Anzac Cove are trendy "rites of passage" and maybe a little bit of the true meaning is lost.

Possibly as an outsider you can see it a little clearer, but to me Anzac Day has changed from when I was a kid. It seems more about the making sure the "day" is made a big deal of, rather than the actual Diggers. I don't know, it's hard to explain.

I must admit to feeling a little uncomfortable about the raise a glass campaign too.

Bandwagon? Are you serious the turn out in the city does not suggest a bandwagon it identifies to me that people respect and admire what the diggers did for this country. Bandwagon, Wheres your pride?

If you drop us an email to [email protected] we can forward an enquiry to the shop and ISC for you.

No shortage of pride here mate, don't worry about that. Just my opinion, you're welcome to yours as well.

Thanks chippy. All about perception and I think a bigger population these days has an impact on what is perceived as being a "bandwagon".

I reckon anyone walking the Kokoda track could not come back unaltered. Yes it is becoming popular but doing something like that as a rite of passage sure beats the bogan alternative of the rootaroundKuta tour.

As I've said previously, I think the club has hit the nail on the head with this jersey and there will be many ADF personnel and their families around Australia, whether they are NRL/Manly fans or not, that will sit up and take notice of this initiative, in a positive manner.

It wouldn't hurt the club to engage with elements of the ADF in Sydney to promote this jersey in the week leading up to the game. And a club donation to Legacy would be a very well received act.

How can Anzac day not be a band wagon event? That's the point of it!

It's the one day every year we reflect on and pay respect to the diggers who did and still do what the rest of us don't have to do. Defend our country.

The more people on the bandwagon the better!

Got the jersey yesterday and can't wait to wear it to the next game. A great design and all credit to the club for their decision to go with it.

Look for me at Suncorp in a few weeks.

from @manlyseaeagles twitter a few min ago

“@berkeley_eagle: are the team wearing them next week?”

Yes, that's our official Rd8 jersey. What do you think? Ready to take on #dogsofwar?

Don't like our chances of finding you if you are wearing that jersey.

Look for the supporters cap seemingly floating around.

Pretty much spot on, BD.

The whole concept is a disgrace.I see the roosters have done it too.For once I totally agree with Gibson on the back page.No doubt a couple of geeks thought it would be a great way to honour the ANZACS.

I am sure the geeks have meant well but I am sick of this linking of sporting contests with those who have died at war.Blokes running around on 300k + a year does not compare to the sacrifices of the 100,000 plus who have given their lives in various wars.

The rise of national recognition for the ANZACS over the last 15 years has been sensational and a long time coming but once again the the ugly forces of commercialisation will do their best to cheapen it.Play the last post, honour the diggers at our game but dont dress up as war heroes please!

Plus it is downright ugly.
