New signings to be announced #nextweek

Difficulty over Will Hopoate coming back is that he just this year signed a three year contract to stay with the Dogs. Back in 2014 he was earning $800,000 a year but of course Parra reneged on their contract agreement. Hoppa isnt going to want to play for less than $500,000 a year no matter where he goes and then there are the three years he's signed up with the Dogs. Like Moylan, he's going to cost any club who tries to have him break the contract a fortune unless the Dogs get real generous. Even then he'll cost a motza

Put it this way, the staff at Manly don't know anything about Hopoate coming.

I'm pretty sure that that everyone being discussed here (Thompson, Moylan, Hoppa, Cronk, Klemmer) ...........................no one at Manly knows anything about!!!

Our recruitment team is too busy ruffling through the dumpsters behind the other Leagues clubs!

I think the funniest thing about the rumour is that all of the sudden these two guys that have never laced a boot together in the same game, are so desperately wanting to play with each other, that they are willing to pack themselves and their families up and move to the other side of the world to make it happen...Will goes from signing a rich 3 year deal with the Dogs, to just jumping on a plane to play in England because his brother didn't get a clearance.

Manly have to want to pick his brother in the team first before they can even play together...it's hilarious. If he was so desperate to move to Manly (so desperate that he would rather move to the other side of the world if it can't happen), would he have signed with the Dogs three months ago?

@Snake do you have a view on the Bailey Sironen rumour having legs. I suspect he would be second tier, if he did come over. I have heard Curtis say it's possible, and confirm he was off contract at the tigers, before saying they would love to play together. Probably planting seeds.
But I can see value in him being at the "CLUB" in more ways then one actually.

You're questioning that something about the Hopoate family might be odd?

I’m still convinced we won’t know much until after the World Cup ( if we are signing anyone of note), which is way beyond next week or even the week after.

Either that or we have what we have and they’ve used the additional funds to sign up more of the under 20’s, which is also highly possible.

Or one last possibility, everyone’s on holidays and we might hear when they return, yes NEXT WEEK!!

Governor Arthur Phillip passed through Beacon Hill on his way to Broken Bay in 1789, naming the landmark.

He was heard to remark to Capt Tench and Capt Hunter that he would set aside the substantial sum of 25 pounds for the development of sports grounds at the bottom of that hill next week.

yes but to only be used for training on Thursday's

Certainly hard to argue with this!

If we’ve signed anyone playing in the World Cup then you’d think they won’t announce them until after it’s over. A player like Thompson would probably just be announced whenever the club thinks the news will land best.

Harry I have to disagree. I think Kelly in only his first year in League did an outstanding job. he had a lapse mid season (not at all surprising for a first year player) and came back with a bang. The kid has silky skills and by next year could be rep standard
1- trboyevic
2-taufua
3-walker
4-hopoate
5-uate
6-green
7-dce
Kelly does not make that backline, and he is nowhere near a rep player standard.... yet

Replace a slow centre in Kelly with another slow more expensive one in Hopoate ? Makes sense

Well me thinks that the person that said there will be a big announcement next week is just trying to pump up their own tyres.

Those that do not read this forum may find the appointment of Lyall Gorman a big surprise. This probably applies to any of the other 3 to 5 names mentioned. If it is something different then that would be a big surprise.
