New signings to be announced #nextweek

Before we can make a big splashy signing, we have to release one of the fringe first graders. Like the Roosters will release some guy from jersey flegg and then sign Cooper Cronk because they are now under the cap *eye roll*

Where are they going to find someone of the calibre of Brad Abbey like the dogs did that fixed their cap problems?

According to the Lurker Brad Arthur and the Eels are ready to have a real crack at Cronk’s signature. It is apparent that the media are comfortable that some teams have no cap. So Norman Moses and now Cronk as well from a club who were over one million above the cap 12 months ago. Wow.

I know the lurker is grain of salt material but if so it just proves that it pays to cheat the cap because in two years you get the green light to do whatever.
The games f*cked in its current state.

All players took a pay cut to be coached by the master coach

Well me thinks that the person that said there will be a big announcement next week is just trying to pump up their own tyres.

Those that do not read this forum may find the appointment of Lyall Gorman a big surprise. This probably applies to any of the other 3 to 5 names mentioned. If it is something different then that would be a big surprise.
If we can offload Lewis Brown we would be in the game for Klemmer, Cronk and Hayne

Can I ask everyone where the love for Hoppa is coming from? Not angry about or anything I guess Im just very confused at the love for him when we can just wait a year and we will have quality centres to choose from for 2019 who will come a hell of alot cheaper.

The dogs pack were practically the same as 2016. I didn't see anything bad from him this year, he was just quiet, and had no opportunities due to his side, which as a fullback is needed. At centre he can get involved more often without being dependent on service from players around him. Their forwards were pathetic, got over-involved and were slow. No back can do anything with such a ****ty foundation, there's a reason they had to sign Woods, a hugely expensive forward. Hoppa's positioning was up there with the best in the comp so no reason he shouldn't teach trbo at least that, as trbo was constantly found out in that aspect this season.

Didn't you want a Morris brother? They've done less in their last 3 years than Lewis Brown and Nate Myles combined

Hoppa averaged 178.9 metres a game this season and displayed his defencive efficiency once again. He played a ball playing fullback role, although the problem was that the dogs were too bad to ever get him in good field position, and even failed to get the ball to him at times because of their slow passes from their shocking forwards

Agree to disagree
I was never a fan of having the Morris boys, too old. As for Tom being found out constantly at the back, it was a problem 3 or 4 times all season, nothing more or any worse than that. Hopoate would not be the man to teach him either as Hopoate plays outside backs, he isnt a fullback or a good one for that matter.

The ball bounced towards our line more often than you'd think. Hoppa

Where's the non-love coming from Trbo?

The ball bounced towards our line more often than you'd think. Hoppa, as viewed by many on here, still has more to give. He's an experienced class player, and a good defender. Just what we need to polish off our backline. Kelly didn't make that position his own in 2017, despite getting chances after being dropped, so, as far as i know that position is still available, Hoppa would be an astute buy imo. And if he really wants to come back and play with his brother than he would not put his value above 500K

As @Snake said this might just be a bull**** rumour though

The ball bounced as much as any other side in kicks and didnt cost us anything. Manly are most dominant side coming out of our own end, Toms runs are the main part of that and its because he always gets the ball, either from the in goal or general play, he gets it fine. That will be perfect in 1 or 2 years, he doesnt need assistance from a centre.

And Kelly has alot more skill that Hoppa has, Kelly is faster, can step, has footwork and knkws how to set up his wing man. Id prefer we stick with Kelly as Hoppas best days are way behind him.

Hoppa is 25, Kelly may be a success story but as I said, he really blew his chances. If we are thinking premiership, especially in the coming years we'd go with hoppa for good defence all over the park, and for his ability to connect players around him with opportunities. He wasn't playing the role of a player with flair at the dogs, and i think if he came to manly he'd be able to find a balance between flair (aka pretty work) and a team player (gritty defence, support, ball-handling).

May have said this before but let's agree to disagree on this one
