New signings to be announced #nextweek

You obviously havent read the comments made by various 'experts' (and yes I also use the term loosely) who described Kelly coming through grade as quick. He was the outstanding winger in U20s 2 years ago and scored a lot of tries. TT and Walker are hardly slow coaches
We have not read the comments about the various experts who described Kelly as quick in the under 20s .
We saw how quick Kelly is at NRL level .
You cannot compare the pace of men in the NRL with the pace of boys in the under 20s.
Kelly as you say may have been quick and outstanding
in the under 20s playing with the boys but he is not quick and outstanding playing with the men .
Tom Turbo who is 5 months younger than Kelly was fast and outstanding in the under 20s and is also fast and outstanding against men in the NRL .
IF YOUR GOOD ENOUGH YOUR OLD ENOUGH .

For mine it's his defence that's the main issue. It doesn't come natural to him, with him often back peddaling which causes players around him to do such. He has speed for sure, and footwork. However, his ball handling can certainly improve plenty, with many games lost due to his crucial errors (eg lost ball against storm, didn't pass against panthers)

All these things are probably fixable with experience, although some of these flaws will linger for a long time. He may be offput by the signing of Hoppa (if we're genuinely interested), although he didn't earn the trust to land him that spot perminantly

I'm mixed, just feel we're a stronger side in 2018 with Hoppa in it, and I don't see why in the long term Kelly can't earn his way back into the side. He'd be used plenty for injury cover in 2018
hoppa would be a better option especially in defense and can cover fb well and winger. Kelly cost us a few games but in all probably had a better year than hoppa though the dogs are terrible and with the likes of mybe liccah and frawley lol its not hard to see why. I'm starting to warm to this hoppa return but it has to be a fair price he's only worth around 400k maybe less. Kelly could improve he had a decent year he had some really bad moments and so really good ones. If we get Thompson I think Kellys defense will improve

Bozo you need to go back and have a look at some of the comments aimed at Tom T in 2015. 'Not ready for first grade', 'too slow for wing position', 'certain games showed he was far from ready to take over Stewart's position', 'cant handle bigger players in defence', 'wont be ready for first grade for a few years yet', 'poor positional play' etc etc etc. Of course there were a lot of positives and one astute individual indicated that by the following year he would show his skills. There were even comments that his body wouldnt cope with first grade, given the injuries he was sustaining. When it was a choice of Taufua and Tom on the wing, most picked Taufua.

I am also old enough to remember Fulton's first year and remember his performance being solid, occasionally outstanding but generally a pale second to Frankie Stanton in the side. Of course you can say they were younger when they started than Kelly, but really the issue is experience more than age. Cliff Lyons was 23 when he first looked like being a star.

Learned a long time ago that one off season can change a whole perspective on a player. Not saying Kelly will make us all wipe egg from our face, but he has the basic skill set to suggest he will be a top centre. Up to him of course but I wouldnt easily dismiss him as a fringe player next year, and that will be the Kelly of 2018 we will have on the field, not the Kelly of 2017

I've seen Turbo burn Morgan= Turbo very fast

I've seen Walkz burn Mitchell= Walkz very fast

Uate is a speed demon and very very fast and Cherry is fast himself. Jorge is a little slow but he isnt a slow poke and he makes up for it in other areas anyway. Calling Kelly slow is pretty silly too considering he was fast in 20s who are much faster players than first graders.

+1
I cannot wait for Kelly to show us what he can do in 2018. Up and down year in 2017 but still had a great year for a rookie.
