Given DCE's desire to be elsewhere, during the origin series would be the opportune time to give the captaincy to the next permanent recipient. It would clear the air for everyone, players , staff and fans alike. He is a great player but the captaincy is an honour, we witnessed how all the great judges last year reacted with Jake getting the Blues job and the team harmony was obvious.

As soon as the DCE announcement was made, giving the joint captaincy to Tom and Jake would have been a smart move (and great PR).
No doubt Jake would have been the captain this week, if available. As it is, Tom is basically the only candidate.

Cherry shouldn’t get it back, we don’t have to let him save face. Use his rationale for what he did to do what we should do. Planning for the future.

He can play as long as he puts in. If not, let him languish in reserves till he finally ****s off.
