No Tedesco, Cleary, Munster, Paps. Some big outs there. Cleary is probably getting off season op. I thought Turbo wouldn't be available for that reason. Ponga or Tedesco will come in for Turbo, maybe even Munster.

A nod to the future which is understandable with no Teddy or DCE but with Grant and Robson as the hookers l don't see the reasoning for Hunts inclusion.
Moses, Deardon and Burton cover the halves so l can't see why he's there.

I am very surprised that Dce is not the squad. Not sure why Hunt would be there instead of dce as hunt’s form was awful towards end the season and he is the same age as Dce more or less . I get hunt can play hooker and maybe that is why.

Also no teddy. And turbo included. Teddy out played turbo in the semi finals. I know turbo was injured but teddy was outstanding. Maybe because Turbo can also play wing or in the centres.

I don't think it has anything to do with DCE being 'past it'. I think the cards were marked last year when NZ thrashed Australia, that it was time for a changing of the guard. DCE and Teddy were in the top 4 for Dally M medal; it's clear they are still elite players in the game and would do a job, but sooner or later, Mal has to blood some of these rookies. After last year's debacle, that time is now.

Funny, in club land its easier and cheaper to punt the coach than 30 players. In rep footy, the players have been given the punt and the coach is kept on.

Pretty much the only reason for that is because Billy Slater was ahead of him in the pecking order for selection in representative games.

Jake , DCE , and Tedesco are the ultimate professional role models in our game
They will always lead by example
They still have NRL level Qualities to influence games

Wow they leave out DCE and Teddy (2nd and 3rd in Dally M) and Ben Hunt makes the squad.

Its the silly season for sure.

I think someone should tap Mal on the shoulder, someone who is very brave.

This squad is surely a joke. It allows several first-pick players to opt out because of injuries yet Turbo is selected. On the performances of his last two matches, when he was playing busted, Turbo would be behind almost every other fit fullback in the comp.
This is probably the least talented Australian squad in recent memory.
