I was surprised Blake Ferguson was selected. His hit-ups are ordinary and he is kick happy when in the clear . He's more likely to make an error to lose a game than win it with some brilliance.

The anti Daley brigade may be a touch quieter for a few weeks now ?

Main difference tonight was NSW picked an inform team and QLD an out of form team, Thurston the best example of that, he continued his shocking run lately

And Maloney has certainly shoved it up me, great debut

Luke Lewis is a machine

Blues defense was awesome. They smashed the toads in every tackle. It was almost like watching Manly defense.

Josh Morris is also a hell of a lot better player than I have ever given him credit for, his last 4 origin games have shown that, makes a lot of crucial 1 on 1 tackles

This was a really good team. They played strong and worked well together.

I was a supporter of carney in halves, but after tonight really happy with maloney, he had a great game.

It shouldn't be unpopular, Hayne always performs at this level and his last 6 weeks for Parra have been more of the same

That back 5 they have now is perfect and injury free should play most of the next 5 years

The Roosters must now be feeling good about their chances this year especially when their Origin reps are standing up.

Maloney and Pearce are coming into their prime. They look in sync just like Foran and DCE did when we won the premiership in 2011.

Great game by every player, I can't see them changing the team for game 2 if those players are available. Unless maybe Reynolds gets dropped

No reynolds. Keep gidley out and bring a.sims to the bench

Only change i think they need is another forward on the bench. Especially if Reynolds is not going to make it on the field.

Yep , don't think a utility is worth a spot on bench . I would have a Grant , Sims , or Stewart on the bench . Bad luck for Reynolds , but Farah will always play 80 mins

agree bar Jennings, dont think he has 5 more top years in him, lots of speed and good size. Ferguson was tested and unlike Uate he performed great under the high ball. He is having "that" year where he becomes a superstar. The Morris boys have speed to burn that we havn't seen yet. If/when they get some room they will prove as good in attack as in defense.

Daley said he will be sticking with Reynolds. So, no changes for game 2 unless injuries.

I think finally NSW has the superior backline. Really the only position that QLD have the advantage is in the halves

Partly because Inglis is playing out of position. Slater should be dropped. There's just no room for him anymore.
Specialist centres should play Centre for qld.

I can't agree with that. Hodges was terrific (I don't like him but he can play). Of the NSW backline you could, realistically, only have Hayne on the wing (replacing Tate).
Cronk and Thurston were way below their best. We need to wait for the next match to judge them.
NSW won through the forwards.
Let's not get too carried away until we win the series.

I thought blake ferguson had a good debut.

They peppered him with bomb after bomb and took all but one (i think).

Isn't he 6foot 3 or something? Strange height to try bombing all game.

Off the mark? Maybe. Corrections welcomed.

i thought tamau was the only disappointment of the night. need more when only carrying 2 props. Reluctant early

I meant as a 1-5 package, I think their centres are arguably better than ours. Although Hodges and Inglis work on power and Morris and Jennings more on speed, so they're hard to compare. But I think as a 1-5 package I'd prefer NSW's backline on current form at least.
