Meaney was seen as a future 1st grader with us what must have been 6-7 years ago now but was never gonna get a crack with how Brett was playing so moved onto the Tigers for a few season and played a little bit of 1st grade for them. Quite a handy pickup to have back at the club at NSW Cup level

He was very good coming through but had his knee busted by Tooves in the off season after Flegg and lost a lot of pace and his step.

NSW CUP
Manly started well & after being held up 2-3 times were rewarded by a 50m Zac Nicolls try..
NZ then scored 2 debatable tries & held field position.
In general the Warriors appeared stronger across the park & looked likely to score in most sets.
HT 16-8 Manly
A full length try to flyer Berryman had it 16- 12 ...need a kicker???
The 2Nd half showed obvious defensive frailties on the right side where they blew the score out to 26-12 with the 5th try on this side where the talented monster Albert Papalii was outragous busting 3-4 tackles & showed why Nicholls, Berryman & Reardon will stay in NSW Cup , unfortunate as all are great attackers.....
Overall a patchy performance with big Luaki & Hodges the standouts...
Luaki more than matched the huge NZ pack & could well be in the 17 come finals time.
Chee Kam tried hard but was bustled & thrown around....Satini strong with limited opportunity & Meaney....was a talent but the legs are shot.

Great win by the Holden Cup team where Hopoate & Taylor were exceptional...
Taylor is an absolute gun & any wraps you heard about him - double them - he is the real deal!!

Thanks @maxta

Depending on injuries (or not) Luaki MAY be a shock and super X-Factor for our finals campaign.

In another week of disappointing gossip, the form of our under-20's is a real positive to remember (along with 1sts of course).

Agree. Love seeing Taylor at fullback and should be left there now being wasted in the centres an absolute speedster in the 20s comp you won't catch him in full flight, with so much athletic ability he needs to have the ball, reads the game so well and a great finisher especially with the team heading forward

Geez we are very well off for replacements to take over from Snake. Gutherson, Taylor and T.Trbojevic. With talent like this opposition clubs are going to becoming a knockin' knowing full well we can't offer them all a spot in first grade in 2 to 3+ years time.

Nah all these kids need to be our future. I am going to add Ramien to the list. Another 3 years and you would expect killer, Skivy and Snakes body will be ready to hang up the boots, if their body dosen't tell em that sooner. The way the club has developed Gutherson is spot on. NSW Cup before his time. Then Development in other positions. A taste of first grade this year. Next year you would expect he'd get some more NRL. It's going to take 3 years in a perfect world to get these kids ready. Hopefully all these boys have been playing together at Manly. All had a taste of first and put on such a display we are all talking about the seemless transition. You can always find a spot for a class player.

You would hope earlier for these kids to be playing 1st grade when you have some 18 year olds already making their NRL Debut for other clubs. Newcastle had 3 playing the other night. I hope manly hang on to these kids but realistic manly's 1sts backline looks pretty secure for a while, you can't rule out other clubs who will be sniffing around and who will fast track these juniors and give them an opportunity to play 1st grade somewhere else. Ramien looks to me as a future back rower

They have a kicker, unfortunately he's out with a broken leg!

An interesting stat I found, even though Rudolph has been on the sidelines for the past 6 weeks he is still 5th for the competitions overall Top Goal Kicker and 5th for Top Points Scorer!

And not surprising though, he was the 2012 NYC Leading Points Scorer, 2nd 2013 NYC Leading Points Scorer with an average kicking percentage of 82.5%.

Yep Maxta,

Can't believe the touchie couldn't see the wingers foot touch the line for the Warriors first try, he was only a metre or two away at most ( and that's what he's there for FFS! )

Notwithstanding that we were pedestrian. Pass from dummy half, catch and pass, catch and pass without even looking like engaging the defence.

Rarely did anyone try to straighten and take on the line.

Sao and Epi had some bright moments but invariably their ball control in the ruck let them down too often so I'd be very surprised ( and nervous ) if they get promoted to 1st Grade this year.
Chee Kam and Satini have promise but have a lot of work to do.
Berryman can run but his defence was woeful, yes I know their winger was good but he just planted his feet in defence and put his head down and was a speed bump. He wasn't alone but our right side defence was woeful.

We never looked like winning, they did everything quicker and better than us and they weren't that good.

Warriors V Sea Eagles - VB NSW Cup Rd 20

Tue 29th July, 11:15AM
By Jamie Anderson

The NZ Warriors well and truly kept their top four hopes alive with a 32-18 win over the Sea Eagles at Mt Smart Stadium on Sunday.

Despite some early resistance from the visitors, the home side were largely the better side throughout, in a match that signalled the arrival of young Abraham Papalii, who scored three tries and could have easily had four or five.

Looks like some pretty weak defence from our guys

Its a shame about Rudolph not being there especially for his kicking game as well. When is he back ?

Not sure on Manaia @Harry

He broke his leg tho, so obviously a long-term thing, unfortunately.

Jake T, Tom T and Clinton all have pretty serious leg/ankle problems.

And I'm wondering why Jack LJ doesn't take on the kicking in NSW Cup?

Definitely too many lapses in effort for most of those Warriors tries again.
