Ok Daly, Captain Daly:time to deliver is here now-and how you intend to honour Brett?

I've been waiting since the GF in 2013 for DCE to return to form and I have kind of given up hope of it happening. He had a real purple patch there at one stage and of course his debut year in 2011 was something special.

I watched a 13 minute highlights reel of Mitchell Moses on Youtube yesterday and I have to say that he did more jaw dropping things in 2 minutes of footage then I have seen from Daly in 4 seasons.

I was a massive fan of Chez there at one stage but he has just underwhelmed so much the last few years. He used to have a wonderful kicking game, would take the line on, and could throw a lovely long pass but he just seems rudderless nowadays.

I have my fingers crossed but I just don't see Daly as a top tier player anymore...sad as it is. That game in 2015 against the Storm at Brookie was a fine match but that's what he should be doing week in week out, not once a year.
This from the rugby league genius who thinks Api Korisaou is the best nine around.

DCE has never had a bad season. He's had seasons where he has been injured and seasons where he has had no help at 6. He is the third best 7 in the Comp. Watch him go with a dominant pack.

And hopefully some decent service at dummy half.

Over to you Api!

So you missed 2014? Were you on holidays? Because the kid smoked every halfback in the Comp until Ballin and Buhrer were injured and he had no decent ball from the 9. Maybe the crispest passer in the history of dummy half play, Apisai Korisau, will bring back that type of form.

Not even Thurston could do it by himself, what makes you think DCE can ?

It took the emergence of Morgan and the re-ignition of Coote, as well as Scott and Tamaou to help him win a comp as a leading playmaker.

You know, so opposition teams couldnt just swamp Thurston like they were doing to DCE all last year.

Thurston is better than DCE.

Give the kid the support around him and he will give us another comp.

My pet hate about Dce, At least once or twice a season he fails to find touch from a penalty. Whilst that isn't much it is enough to notice.

It has even convinced me he might be a greedy person, just because he is trying to get that little bit more.

Just kick it into @#$%^&* touch this year and these evil thoughts will fade away.

I think ppl overlook HOW DCE has been injured the past 2 seasons....
Playing behind a team (at times) with little go forward, he tucks it under his arm and does an ugly Direct hit up in traffic....I shudder every time as it's like the defence gets the chance to crush the quarter back in NFL....and the halves are meant to be your protected players....his courage cannot be denied as he tries to show his mates the way to go....and has paid the ultimate price on a few occasions.

So we talk about DCE having to show Brett respect. Yiu tell me who showed the Manly jersey respect last year once they crossed the white line.
It's a long bow to accuse footballers of not showing respect. For me there were several players not up to first grade and very little cohesion. These boys tried hard most of the time, but realistically lacked the capability as a team to carry out game plans.
If you single out Brett Stewart, then naturally any observant football fan with reasonable knowledge could see he was putting in lame performances. Injured or not, he rarely put his body on the line and was less than urgent around the field. To say he dogged it, is up to him to answer, I would hope not. He has been an awesome member of the Manly family, so I hope that he can finish his career with humility and respect. If he gets on the field for one last hurrah, and can perform to NRL standard, I will be more than happy. I don't want to see any sulking or preciousness, especially toward his new captain. I highly doubt DCE will put up with it anyways.

You want DCE to call a public holiday? Name a stand after them?
Name his kids after them?
Get a face tatt on each ass cheek?
It's not up to DCE to make a call on these two legends, he's only being told what the clib tells him! Obviously they don't get on so they would hardly be updating each other. Or maybe he doesn't want to touch the topic of the two that are beyond repair yet still trying to milk the cash at the expense of the clubs future?!
How would you get a troll for that? pretty harsh

There in lies the problem with DCE. He is a flat track bully who only plays well when everything is going his way.

Forwards making yards, a decent 5/8 and good service from dummy half.

He isn't a match winner when things don't go his way 100%.

Thurston is the maestro and can win games when things are going against him. Same with Cronk

Great, give gim a decent 5/8, decent service from dummy half and a decent set of fowards then (all of which he has for this season, but has lackef the previous few seasons, especially last year).

No-one alive thinks DCE is in the same class as Thurston or Cronk, not even DCE himself.

DCE as captain and Jake as vice captain, is in my opinion the best option for the team. DCE is in the middle of all the action and sets up the moves in the back line. We needed someone like that to take control of strategies and despite the negatives DCE has received, I think he's still in the top five half backs in the League. And he will improve with a stable side without all the drama of recent seasons. So much for a half back depends on the rest of the team being in sync. That's why Thurston and Cronk are so successful.

Having Jake as captain of the forwards is sensible because forwards always operate best by example being shown by the leader of the pack. Jake is a no nonsense, hard worker who does not stop. Ideal for vice captaincy and future captain when DCE eventually moves on.

Thing is its a young team, still requiring synergy, and it needs leaders well established in the club and well respected. That's what DCE and Jake bring to the team.

DCE & Manly have REALLY missed one K Foran .... I hope one B Green fills that hole and allows DCE to play to his potential & have a belter of a season ...

Lol true Wombat, but it was from bazeagle whom I replied too. He obviously didn't like my resonse. Then he went through and hit some more of my other stuff with trolls. A little sensitive i guess :giggle:
Ha. I know someone else on here that does the same thing. A bit petty really. 🙂

I'm not a DCE hater, I really like him as a player...he is whole hearted and a terrific defender but I just don't th think he as taken his game to the next level like we all hoped he would when he First burst onto the scene.

He was part of a wonderful side in the glory years and could play freely off the back of that but since he has had to step up and become the great player that others play off the back of, he has been shown up a little. Too many Clutch moments the last few years and he hasn't delivered.

We need more from a guy earning his salary...there is some truth to the injuries and diminishing roster excuses but I still expect a little more from him.

take a look at what Mitchell Moses did at the Tigers last year behind their rubbish pack and you'll see what raw talent and confidence can produce.

I would like to see a highlights reel of all the tackles moses missed and the passes that missed the player by miles, oh and the kicks that go straight out. I'm sure if we condensed daly's game into a highlights package it would be a very good one.And it's not his fault what he earns

Having an option on both sides of the ruck is so important to an attack, because it means the defence cant simply shut down one player.

I dont get why some people cannot/ will not see this most basic of points.

Talk about clutch plays all you like, but when 13 defenders know exactly who will be attempting the play, well, i dont think I can explain in any more simplistic terms what the likely result will be.
