“What really got under his bonnet ... are some of the niggly, grubby tactics from Melbourne. But not just Melbourne, some of their champion, so-called cleanskin players like Cameron Smith and Billy Slater,” Massoud said on Sky Sports’ Big Sports Breakfast.

“There was an elbow to the head of (Cowboys fullback) Lachlan Coote.

“Paul Green privately feels these guys are a protected species, that the referees don’t police them well enough.

What a fool Green is.

Billy had about four goes at Coote during that match. The elbow was just one of them.

Well hallelujah !!!
But nothing will come of it but smug denials and their media and NRL a*se hangers rushing to their defence.
"Oh every club does it they just do it better"
Committing grubby acts is not doing anything better, just slowly ruining the game.

Like how they don't bother to show any of the offences, just nice action shots of the two boy wonders. If it had been focusing on most other players there would have been photographic evidence. But the media again trying to cover up the scums grubbiness

Everyone knows that the Drizzle big 3 are immune from this and it happens when they play for Queensland especially. Thirty years ago they would have been dealt with once on the field and that would have been the end of it.

these ****ing koalas should be the sole reason the NRL has an integrity unit. It sickens fans most weeks what they are allowed to escape scrutiny for.

They must suck a mile of dick to have all vested parties all turning blind eyes to what is so blatant

Slater is the biggest see you next Tuesday in the NRL. Watching him get coathangered the other week was a highlight of the year
It was right up there with Stevie Matai ironing out Mick Ennis all those years ago when we played the Bulldogs. Except that one was about 30 seconds late, rather than half a second...

They've been given a green light their entire careers because of the NRLs need to succeed in Melbourne.
They need heroes down there not villains.

And there's your number one reason!!

If they were the Ipswich Storm playing out of Suncorp they would have been pinged years ago.

Not to disagree with Greens sentiments...but if that was a Manly coach making this allegation, it would all be about Manly whinging and poor sportsmanship....again I agree, but it's funny how different ppl in rugby league circles can make the same comment and it is perceived so differently...

For anyone who doubts Slater's teflon abilty with dirty play go back to the 2008 GF and watch all the tries that we scored. How many times did Slater slide his foot into the try scorers to dislodge the ball. I would have thought that was a send off offence.

Pretty sure back then it was not explicitly ruled out (was later)
And that is the issue - the grubby pushing of boundaries takes away from what are great players

I always remember poor Matty being repeatedly elbowed, whilst on the ground, by sCam down at AAMI in 2014, right in front of the Ref.😡

The Ref ruled a penalty to the Scumos as he found that poor Matty held him in the tackle too long :swear:

Then he kicks Isaac Luke in the head and claims he never saw his head @

I was at that game when smith elbowed ballin, game was in Melbourne. I blew up bout it and and I let everyone know my thoughts on smith much to the bemusement of their fans lol

While I 100% agree with Green....its a little hypocritical since he coaches the other protected playing species in the NRL (who just happens to be out injured right now).

Would love to have seen them try their stuff on Les Boyd or Igor or even Dallas Donnelly. It would have been a bloodbath.

I remember Bob Batty being given somewhere between 4-6 weeks on the side line for kicking out like that. Some are more equal than others.
