Ah Woodsie you were a teacher , that explains your eloquent use of words on here.

Whilst I ended up having a very successful business and did reasonably well for myself , boy didn’t I squander my schooling.

I was far more interested in football and the girls , more so the girls.

No, was never a teacher in the system ... owned my own businesses for many years one of which was a specialised tuition provider to both top end and bottom end students ...

.. and as for football and girls ... the education that can be obtained from both is greatly under estimated .. but not under appreciated ..

Greatly undervalued our teachers , would be a crap job these days with all those self entitled kids.

Well it’s clear Des isn’t getting sacked , and there’s no way he’s leaving without a payout.

This next season could get very VERY ugly if there’s not some sort of agreement.

I feel as though the pressure valve had to be released. I hope that the change that had to happen is now accepted and actioned. Fingers crossed.

Yep, you are spot on here, and I agree.

Tom - if he's on the field - value for money.
Jake - okay, probably overpaid - my suggestion has been to extend him 3 years, but reduce the average cap hit on these final two to compensate.
DCE - I know the media BS about dollars (Anthony Watmough's contract was sent to me remember), so I DO hope he took a heavily reduced extension - possibly on 700k or something.

Taupau being gone has freed $800k odd. Then add Walker, Foz (combined another $800k). Plus parts in Taufua, Boyle, Davey (possibly another $400k).

If you take a fair bit of that maybe happening, he has the ability to re-tool and invest for need.
I cant wrap my head around this ,there has too be some money in the coffers.
It doesn't add up.

Possibly front loading contracts for longer term results? That's all I've got mate. Call it a reverse backended contract, but has the same results - effectively if you dump 2 mill into forward contracts in 2023, we'd effectively have 11-12 mill in cap space in 2024 if that makes sense?

I hope this isn't the case, because medium to longer term, it'll have the same bottleneck effect on our cap management.

Hopefully there is plenty of wins and very few injuries (especially to our fullback). That's the only way I can see this settling down again.

can 't see what the problem is with Des having at least some benchmarks applied to him for the i st quarter or so of next season and consideration for a contract extension then .

Important thing is the young players must be brought through quicker, to give them experience earlier.

If the head coach is under the pump to get early wins in order to avoid the sack, he'd be an idiot to select young talent just to see how they go/give them a taste of first grade. He'll go with the known quantity every time, rather than take a risk, even though blooding youngsters regularly may be in the long term interests of the club.

A few people have already pointed out this anomaly in the so called KPIs in Des's contract last year. Kent actually refered to it as a 'rookie error' by managment in putting clauses like that in.

I disagree .

The coach is cactus if he persists with the same failing cattle

If the coach does not select emerging young talent like Koula for example

Or signs upgrades and replaces the current crop of players who are incapable of competing with star players from the top 8 teams he is cactus

Now this is just typical of News Ltd. They have reported and bagged Manly for 13 days now....and this is exactly what they have been cr@pping on about , at manly, now for days....BUT, because it's their beloved Broncos, one little article like this. F#cking pathetic scum journalists. See what happens on NRL180 tonight.

Broncos coach Kevin Walters is under pressure to shake-up his coaching staff and wield the axe in a bid to reignite Brisbane as a finals force.
Sport Confidential can reveal heads are set to roll at Red Hill with Broncos officialdom wanting Walters to make changes to his coaching staff following an end-of-season review in Brisbane’s late-season capitulation.

Walters may have kept his job for next season, but his key deputies may not be so fortunate.

Since succeeding Anthony Seibold at Red Hill last year, Walters has had John Cartwright and Terry Matterson as his chief assistants.
