It doesn't matter if Siebold can coach or not at this point. The squad are obviously off him and have been for weeks. We have beaten the top two sides this year, so the players are obviously capable, but we are turning out insipid s**t week after week.

I don't care if it's Ennis or Ballin, but we need a new coach. Both have won two premierships as a player, playing in arguably the most important position in the modern game. I have a slight preference for Ballin as a Manly old boy but Ennis seems like a great motivator.

Either way, sign one of them up this week and let's start building for 2026. This year is over for us and has been ever since we lost to the Dogs.

What was Ennis's 2 premierships???? one with the great Shark attack on drugs in 2016, whats the other? 2006 he played till round 5 with Broncos, then injured and goooorne for the season.

So you’re saying it has everything to do with DCE’s leaving “announcement”?Lets go through those first 3 rounds, shall we.Beat,as proven,a poor Cowboys, beaten by the Warriors, then got a ton of penalties/ possession and benefitted from a sin bin against the Raiders.DCE and the Trbjovic’s are not absolved from blame, but this all comes back to the original decision of signing Seibold in the first place
Not saying it’s purely due to Mr Millions decision but we were 3 from 4 then the announcement & the hammering from Melbourne! It’s been downhill since that moment. Yes possibly a better coach may have steeled the team better but FMD it’s hard to fathom the $hit that’s been happening since then!

Yes those are the two. He was still part of the squad in 06, even if injured he was there amidst the success. And in 2016 he was an integral part of the side.

If you are implying that Ballin's wins were more impressive though, I agree.

I’m not denying DCE’s decision has had an impact, but Seibold should never have been appointed from the start and given Manly’s history of off field dramas,he is not equipped to deal with adversity

It’s a well known fact amongst insiders, that DCE asked for a release early parts of last year due to him not rating Seibold as a coach.Manly said no,obviously.Come seasons end, when it was time to talk a DCE extension for 2026,Manly put it on pause for a bit and in the meantime, the club extended Seibold’s contract, which prompted DCE to tell the club he wouldn’t be extending past 2025.Around the same time,a few senior players approached Mestrov to air their grievances about Seibold’s coaching,no prizes for guessing who two of those players were.
Believe my story or not,I don’t care, but I heard it from more than one source, the rumour has been all over the place and the evidence has been for all to see on the field
Did DCE ask for a release when Barrett was coach?

I don’t know if you remember a couple of seasons back the divide at the Raiders with Ricky and the playing group, Tapine wanted out etc.

The decision to stick with Ricky and get the playing group aligned has them at the top of the table, getting the stinky fish out on the table and having those robust honest discussions have benefited them.

Possibly we need a bit of that Penrith DNA added in, Dogs, Tigers have melded it in and you can see the results. Any chance we could grab a defensive coach from Penrith as an assistant coach along with a player or two like Scott Soreson to show the expected standard.
100% we need to really focus on defence this coming off season. Bring someone in who can do that and follow the style the Dogs have adopted from Penref. Of course, an improved forward pack is also necessary but at least start to introduce this method.

If you want to win a comp, your defence needs to be top notch imo.

Are you suggesting to stick with Seibs?

Just find it interesting that apparently DCE thinks Seibold is a worse coach than Barrett.
There’s obviously

Apart from a couple of the senior players, most of the current Raiders team weren’t at the club when that went down.It was the senior players that approached Ricky about his “behaviour” rather than any issues with tactics etc and Ricky has openly said he had to change his ways to suit todays players. Not sure it’s comparable to Seibold’s situation, especially given this is the second time he’s had problems with a playing group

What I am saying is there will always be differences in views and opinions between players and coaches, if that’s the case the Raiders are a good example of putting all their differences and opinions on the table and all being aligned and supportive of the decisions made during the meeting.

How exactly? If he now agrees that Seibs needs to go then he is inadvertently admitting he was wrong and the coach needs to go. It's okay to be wrong and to recognise the fact than to be wrong and forever live in denial. Seibs needs to go full stop and those who have called for this have been justified in doing so. There has been a lot of mud slinging and name calling around this issue.

Particularly from the super fans who were calling for Seibs to get another crack.

Not really; timing is important.

If the coach was sacked while we were on the edge of the top 8 several rounds ago, we would have got a stop-gap caretaker coach with the season on the line.

The results could have been just the same, or worse, some would blame the caretaker coach, and the club would be none the wiser about who actually should be the next full-time coach.

Now that we are effectively out of contention for the finals and we also cannot win the spoon, the situation is a bit different.

Early season form is rarely a reliable indicator unfortunately. That is when there's are generally more upsets before dreams steel themselves for September.

But what has Seibs ever won? Ricky Stuart is a fierce competitor who won multiple premierships as a player and coach. Seibs and guys like Adam O'Brien just don't seem at ease in the cut throat industry of NRL. On what basis do you keep Siebs? What are the strengths and leadership qualities you see that others don't?

That may be true, but what about our playing group? Are they equipped to deal with adversity? DCE doesn't like the coach and wants to leave? Fair enough, but do it without trying to drag the club down with you, and maybe try to play like an NRL-standard halfback while you're still here.

Jake and Tom don't like DCE for the way he's handled his departure, and also think he's just kind of a dick? Again, fair enough. He is kind of a dick. But does it have to affect your performances as much as it has? I work with people I don't like all the time.

Same goes for the rest of the players. They're all supposed to be professionals. If you don't have any pride in the team, how about pride in your own game? The whole lot of them are looking for - and finding - excuses instead of getting on with their jobs.

The clean out - players, coaches, administrators, hot dog vendors, parking attendants - can't come soon enough.

August 15... Andrew Johns.....Nine.com.au

Andrew Johns believes Anthony Seibold still has "something to offer" as Manly coach, despite rumours suggesting he could be on his way out of the club.

Seibold's tenure has been up and down since arriving at the Sea Eagles, missing the finals in 2023 before being eliminated in the second week of the 2024 playoffs.
We’ll Andrew should talk his Knights into taking Seibold, on one condition, we don’t get AOB…..

So there’s actually no source & is simply someone’s speculation over DCE’s announcement?

Maybe DCE’s just dirty on the club because they didn’t grant him an early release pre-2024 season to take up a huge Rooster’s contract? Then they brought Watmough back into the fold, adding insult to injury?
So, what was the reason he asked for an early release then, do you think?
