2V lets himself down with poor team selections time and time again.

Shrugging your shoulders on 360 and giggling like a dwarf while trying to find the floor on his high chair is admirable, but perhaps he could spend a bit more time picking the "right" ****ing team.

I have no doubt if we had Hodges on the bench last night instead of Hassan..and we let Jake play 60 instead of 40 mins we would have won that game in a canter.

2V lost that match with his selections. He should have got them up at the 40, but they came out like the game was already won.

Piss poor effort.

Mateo hurt his knee in his first hit-up and probably should have been replaced because he was limping for the rest of the match. A brave effort, but probably not a wise one. With T-Red injured it meant our 2nd and 3rd string 5/8ths were MIA. This calls into question the makeup of our bench. Having four big forwards on the bench doesn't allow for any backline disruption, which happens most matches. You must carry a utility on the bench, such as Hodges, T-Red or Tom Turbojet - a player that can multi-task.

I have been happy with Horo of late; although, he did bomb two tries last night. He could have passed to Snake for a try, and at the end should have passed to Tafua for a try. The second one wasn't the easiest of passes to make, but not the hardest either and he should have gone for it.

The bigger problem in my eyes was that it was all on DCE's shoulders last night. We had no real 5/8 option that the defence could reasonably expect the ball to go to for a play, kick, 5th tackle option - so all they had to do was focus on DCE and cut down his time. We must put Lyon there next game and have him share the kicking etc and present different options to the defensive line, otherwise we are too easy to pick off on the 4th and 5th tackle plays.

I think this also shows that we can't go into next year with a make shift 5/8 - we can put Jamie there this year as we have no other choice (until he who must not be named comes back from injury), but it's a stop gap. Next year we must have two genuine halves - rookie or not, they can't be makeshift, as it's just too easy to defend against.

Obviously on my own then in the thought that we never really got going in the second half as a team. Bit harsh to pick out individual moments and players which make up the matter of seconds within a 40 min half. Having said that not quite sure what Hasson is there for to be honest
Agree, it was our forward rotation in the 2nd half that stuffed us penrith got on top and gained momentum, dont understand 2v taking jake t off for 20 min then using hasson for the last 5-8 min?? I think Jayden H would have been a nice edition mid 2nd half to get us on the front foot then follow up with some fresh forwards pushing through...just my thoughts, the game was slipping away and 2v's options of player changes just didn't achieve the outcome we needed...a fn win.

Yep yep lyon 5/8 hiku centre, turbo wing.

Why are most sinking the boot into Horo? He's played well along with leary, turbo and a few others. There was a bloke out there who's supposed to be worth 1mil+ because he's a "Match winner" but didn't step up to the plate.

Manly should have put the foot down in the 2nd half but went back after halftime complacent and we got done.

Supercoach is a term that's be attributed to a few blokes but Ivan Cleary has got to be up there with the best. His got a calm demeanor which rubs off onto the players and he hasn't got any superstars in him team other than Moylan who will imo end up playing plenty of SOO.

That's two weeks in a row we have carried a bench warming forward that contributes 10 minutes late in the game. I don't see the point of it myself. If they aren't good enough to put in a decent stint then why bother at all, better off having someone on the bench who can provide some spark if we need it......Hodges for example.

It was one of Dessies favourite ploys and Tooves seems to follow suit. Frustrates the hell out of me and I cannot figure out what the upside of it is. Are they just there to cover for injury to a forward ?

The team is improving each week. When we get the players all fit, you will see the uplift in performance and execution especially in attack. Our defence out wide has improved immeasurably since the first few rounds. No injuries is one thing, but after those injuries it still takes a while to be match fit. Tooves is doing good imo. The improvement will be steady. Those continually bagging Ballin, Horo, Mateo will eat their words. Get behind your team and support the club. If the team can be fit and no injuries by round 14, we can make a decent run at the back end. Once that happens, Hasson will be in NSW cup where he belongs. The rest of the young forwards will continue to improve.

Yep yep lyon 5/8 hiku centre,turbo wing.[/

The club doesn't have another proper winger unless you consider the Wolfman, who I like, but is not up to top level. Taufua is going well, but needs to watch his positioning defence as he gets caught out
They need someone strong and quick its a specialist spot.
Young Turbo is not the answer, he is not quick or strong enough and he got shown up with
positional defence against Mansour / Penrith on the wing before he got injured and the same thing will happen again next time against the big guys and the same for Gutherson who I would have as a good 5/8 and Turbo is a good fullback

It frustrates me tooves doesn't carry hodges on the bench! We needed that spark last night and no one offered it! You can't hit the edges without condensing the line with quick speed through the middle! It concerned me last night that tooves was already telling the boys to get runners pushing trough the line without actually structuring it first! We need hodges on the bench!

Hodges is a ball hog with questionable defence.

Lyon is best suited to the RHS, I personally think Hiku could play the LHS playmaker role (or five eighth if you prefer). That way Lyon can play his natural side and Tom T can come into the team as well.

Let's face it, this year or next the little fella will be gone.

If he has any class, he will brush the organisation completely and become a suburban accountant or somesuch.

Face what? We lost a game by 1 point and again, the "sky is falling"! Tooves is all class and a Manly Legend despite these ridiculous threads and comments that pop up after a loss.

Huh?

Who said the sky was falling. I'm not criticising him. I thought it obvious that I was stating obvious, re: his future.

Speaking of coaching, I really enjoyed watching Melbourne beat the Eels at Parramatta Stadium the other week because (a) I hate the Eels, and (b) Melbourne were so professional in their approach.

They are the best coached team in the league by a mile and they have a series of very clever and well rehearsed plays. They are heavily structured but never predictable nor boring. Why? Because they have variations on their set plays. If the defence rush Proctor, it's out the back to Slater, if the defence look for the sweeper, Cronk hits Proctor, and if they look at Slater and Proctor, Cronk goes himself.
