State of Origin, 2025.

I'm a New South Welshman and happy with the result however I must say, I was very impressed with Robert Toia.

Congratulations to the young man, who has had a wretched time during his young career battling injuries.

His "battle" with Latrell Mitchell was a split decision in my eyes, perhaps leaning more towards the debutant.

Wayne Bennett tried to get him to the Dolphins and saw what we all saw tonight very early on.

I hope he is selected again for game two.
Yes I agree (with the Rob Toia part, not the result) but it's such a big stage for someone as young and limited amounts of NRL games as him and can easily crack under the pressure but he did his job, he didn't overplay his hand and I would think he will only grow more confident as time goes on.

The Magnifienct Maroon DCE will make a Myth out of your NSW winning Margin Canadian Fantasy Feathered friend

But when you wake up
You will not only Snap but also Crackle and Pop out of that comfort zone Dream of yours
and You will see DCE lifting the Winning Maroons Trophy
This is ageing well...........or not............

Crikey Buzz. What game where you watching ? Latrell = silly penalties dropped balls, six against over aggressive. His bad equals his good. It's all about Latrell not the team. Sorry thought the young guy towled him up, and I support NSW.
It wasn’t Toia that forced those Trell errors though… (and one was a strip)

I don’t want to rag on Toia but it was a good debut without being great and Trell’s quick pass had lengths on Toia’s flick on…

I don’t like Trell particularly but he is one of the first blokes I would pick for NSW…

Will have to agree to disagree. I thought his physical presence in defense, especially in the first half, was a huge factor in shutting down QLD's right side attack. His involvements in attack were also good for the most part.

He definitely has a dumb penalty or two in him but the confidence and composure he brings more than makes up for it.

Was the line speed really that fast on both sides? Or did the Ref just not blow the inside-10's? I feel it's the latter.

2nd half was sloppy for an Origin imo, forgettable. First half was OK, but it was generally a smash-fest of forwards charging into the ruck to smash the 1st receiver - because Klein was too gutless to police the 10m.

This tuning-knob of rule interpretation game to game must be so hard to train for. 6-agains as a momentum shifter at the whim of the ref (notice how few of those there were, except in bursts especially defending the line), interfering in the ruck or was it holding on too long or was it a dominant tackle... You can't tell me that Origin and the NRL finals are ref'd the same as weekly club games in the NRL.

They'll say it was a game which had intensity - but it just shows even that can be fabricated in the NRL - just revert to the old 5m and everyone is getting smash happy again. Happy Turbo/Jake didn't play that one.

I noticed though that DCE didn't dig into the line at all and draw his defender - he was passing heaps early to his outside man, so he didn't get smashed. He didn't really draw his man most of the night. Cleary and Moses did that a lot better than DCE/Munster. At least DCE's self-preservation may ensure he is available for our club games.

Good points.

I do wonder if DCE just is starting to lose it a little now. I thought it was just his head being out of Manly and he’d pull out his classic big performance for QLD where he looks like he cares way more but even that wasn’t there I don’t think.

You know, it’s not too late to retire a 1 club player!

I'm curious if anyone has an answer for my tinfoil covered head at the moment but can Craig Bellamy give Laurie like full insights on how his players ( Munster, Grant, Trent, Coates) are likely to play seeming he would know them best or would his info not have any impact on the way they play the game?
For sure. Loz has surrounded himself with some excellent footy brains.
