Well....

I got carried away with all the storm injuries and changed my tip to Manly.

Of course I forgot the cowardly act of too often not contesting bombs,
the refs not calling things like taking out taufua and right angled play the balls,
the refs calling out every little thing they can ping manly on,
It's past the refs, Manly are just a stupid ill disciplined moronic team. Penalty after penalty, and
the lack of execution. Dropped balls, no set plays, galactically stupid off loads. these guys are just boofheads.

I don't raise the bar that high for footballers in general, but at times their footy IQ must be in the negative digits. It's like they want to brag about how they put in a good effort but just fell short.

Some good physicalaity in D, but Manly was otherwise pitiful. Manly are lucky that the Storm’s attack was mostly disjointed. Vs Panthers it would have been 50 points against - minimum.

DCE passing attack is non-existent, & the way in defense he just sprints up into the middle of nowhere, stand still, and then just ball watches the opponent attack, totally oblivious to the unfolding play, is just so embarrassing. Koula has to cover up so much of DCE incompetence, and many times it’s impossible.

photo examples below of DCE defensive liabilility & oblivious-ness. He chronic ball watches the inside attacker, with zero vision on the outside.
2nd photo is DCE sprinting up in the middle of nowhere, then been dragged back inside by Munster, who then puts the Melbourne player through.

Last Photo below is of DCE refusing to pass to Koula in some space. DCE then takes a run & is driven back 10m. Koula is one of the most dangerous attackers in the league, and has zero tries this season because he’s playing outside one of the worst passing game attack wreckers in the NRL - DCE.

Haven’t watched the game but I understand Melbourne got away with two tries in the first half that should not have been allowed.

I'm not sure how much will be made of them, but Joey Johns pointed out that for the first try, a storm player ran into ruben, and a try was scored. They've been ruled as obstructions for the last couple of years except for last night.

- The second was a storm player played the ball at almost right angles to the try line but play was allowed to continue and a try was scored.

He has Olakau’atu and Koula outside him and both get the ball with no time and multiple defenders on them. Now imagine both of them on Foran’s side rather than dealing with DCE’s stop start jink and twist style?

We just have to face the obvious

Currently we are a **** team

Bottom 4 for sure

Can they change this , dunno

Seems to be a recurring problem for Manly recently , limited possession especially in the i st half , still some resolute defence to their credit but some pretty ordinary attack into the mix too . Not to take into account all of the extra juice taken out of the side with that type of disproportionate defending . Attack was better against the Eels with Turbo a big contributor but back to very average again last night in the main . Attack just seems so one dimensional with Turbo out despite Foz and Schuster trying to make a difference . just too much one out running and with limited possession , really restricts the scoring opportunities . Think the game plan should be just more expansive footy , fair enough to work off a platform but with the make up of the pack at present , not much benefit in that area as well . Schuster has to start whether in the back row or at 6 during origin , not so much one off plays and the attack directed more wider of the ruck to get guys like Oloka - atu more one on one "s opportunities . Koula can be a serious attacking weapon but just isn 't getting the right opportunities Saab and Paseka returning should help matters , Surely the cheap ruck infringements can be reduced which puts the side under so much more pressure and subsequently then also can not built effective pressure and particularly when most refs give Manly a hard time in general Anyway naturally doing it tough with so many injuries but compounded with what seems like the wrong attacking mode and just lack of attention in basic ruck defence .

I can’t wait to see @globaleagle I mean Graham Annesley justify how the Eels deserved 3 set restarts in the Manly v Melbourne game…

I posted the following comment on the SMH match report:

"When did the NRL change the rule allowing players to play the ball when facing the sideline ?"

I'm stunned that it was cleared by their moderators. :speechless:
Happened twice and it was pretty blatant.

This sadly is our reality .....

Manly have equalled an unwanted club record conceding more than 20 points in six straight games.

Des Hasler’s men finished fourth last season but they’ve struggled in particular against the top teams in 2022.

The Sea Eagles have dropped all seven games against top-eight opposition this season, and all nine games against Storm or Panthers since 2020.

“I’m just disappointed by our application, we just don’t give ourselves a chance,” Hasler said.

“We don’t set it up, we don’t execute well enough.

“It’s about building that pressure and field position and we just didn’t give ourselves a chance and it’s something we need to fix.

“Disappointing, we can’t excuse that.”

You know like, I mean we all make mistakes, even like you know, refs and such and even the bunker but we try to get it right and v'landy said we have a 98% success rate and I'm hanging on to that till I die but I mean it's not like we're stopping there and we try to get it right and aim for 100% but it's like a thankless job and we want to attract all the best people to the game not just refs but players and no one goes out there to make mistakes and like lets all calm down and not say bad things because like players make mistakes to and I'm not blaming the players because captains challenges show that the moon is made of cheese and I mean if there isn't technology how do squirrels work and if you freeze the video here and look at the angles which no one has seen before today which totally means they weren't doctored at all because any accusation that refs manage games is bad and like 98 percent remember and.....

....some teams are more disciplined than others. that's just how disciplined the eels were, to get 3 re-starts in the manly v melb game.

ge is not graham annesley...!!!

Resigning DCE was another feet stuck in concrete decision. He has been a poor game manager for years lacking consistency and his defensive decisions have become woeful. We need to move him in closer now at hooker. IMO we won't win another premiership with DCE at half. WE need Schuster to work hard and get fit and to find a new solid up coming half back to play a solid abd steady half back role that gives the ball to those outside in space. Time for a fresh mind at head coach the side looks like the coach has run out of ideas. Time to look at catching up with the game that has left us a long long way behind.

Mainly it is down to a lack of professionalism from some of our players. Walker's ridiculous offload on tackle 3 in the first set in the second half gifted them a try, and game over at 18-4. Manly had some chance at 12-4 after getting back into the grind in the 1st half, but that screwed it.

Walker's passing game was terrible for the following 10 minutes and he hogged the ball. I feel like Des took him off, and we looked a bit better with the Schu out there, although he needs more game time to get his timing right.

Also Keppie running out of the line to let in a try. He makes a costly error every game, sometimes more than 1.

How many times did we let the Storm off with a penalty on the 4th tackle while they were deep in their own half? Same story last week v eels.

So for the last two weeks Manly has been its own worst enemy.

Garrick looks injured and he's missed a few kicks the past 2 weeks, costly v eels, no big deal last night. Hope his leg is ok. I think we need Weekes at fullback and Reuben back on the wing.

Anyway I'm logging off for a while, bye silvertails.
