Game Day: Storm v Manly [Round 19, 2019]

Chez, Chez you're using the wrong fingers :finger::giggle:

The Foxtel commentators mentioned that Fainu came down with leg cramp twice in the warm up last night & needed a lot of massage to be able to take the field. This could have restricted his running game, esp. in the first half. His facial expressions during the game seemed to indicate he was under physical duress. If it is a chronic problem, it can be tricky to cure (know this from personal experience).

Nase just needs to drink some Pepsi or take a potassium supplement to stop the cramps

Sirro is playing out of his skin at the moment. A lot of his tough work goes unnoticed, but is also a real offensive threat running off DCE.

Fainu is an absolute gun. I still think the competition is divided by those teams that have an elite hooker and those that don’t. The ability to suck in the markers to allow forward space in behind the ruck as well as crisp passing and option taking is just so crucial.

DCE has become a true leader and he is the best half in the game - something forgotten when our forward pack wasn’t doing it’s job.

Suli and Parker are overperforming. As bargain centres it’s great to see their contributions. Jorge is brutal coming out of our own end and Garrick is a class finisher. All played well last night. You’re going to get a few errors and Jorge I always going to be slow on the turn and chase.

Marty and AFB laid a solid platform but it was their offloads that really troubled the storm in that first half.

One thing I was super impressed with last night was Walkers comfort in the 6 jumper. Des has simplified the position for him compared to what it appeared he was trying to do under TB. I was dubious at first but I think he might work out there. Some of his runs and passes reminded me a bit of Foran.

Yep I played with calf and shin soreness for five years from age of 18. Was an absolute nightmare. And that was at grade level in Brissy. Hate to think of the duress at NRL level.
Still the medical help these guys get is second to none to make up for that I suppose.
Kid was great last night despite the calf. That play in 85th minute to dive on the kick was vital

Tweets from Manly haters @;)

"Great stuff mate! I am a long time Manly hater, and this is my favourite Manly team ever. Incredibly gutsy tonight. Game of the year for mine! Genuine contenders!"

"I feel dirty. I just went up and roared when Manly won in golden point."

I know this feeling as I’ve had it when I’ve cheered the Broncs to beat melb. Lol

I mentioned earlier in the thread, Walker has very good skills as a 6. Very crisp and quick service to his outside men. Gotta keep him there m.

We all saw it but I can't help but repeating:

Jake: 67 tackles! I mean, wow. 67 tackles in one game of footy AND 80 metres run.

That is one amazing, tough, gutsy, add more superlatives here, incredible performance.
Some of those tackles in golden point were simply amazing. He just chopped them down when they were getting a role on. Outstanding effort

I know it can work both ways but the Storm had rested all their 'stars' last week for a freshen up unlike us, and the game went 90 minutes.

So real, real gutsy by Manly.

I don't think Garrick will show Ado-Carr the sideline again. Phew! Burned.
