I always laugh when (usually lawyers) say My client strenuously denies all charges!
As though this particular client really is innocent. But for his next client it might only be, Well my client pleads not guilty Your honour, although he's not very adamant about it

Never safe to believe news reports about exactly what has been charged, but ... based on the reports, the betting offence has a max penalty of 2 years, but supply dangerous drug carries 15 years - which puts it well over the NRL's 11 year threshold for automatic stand-down.
