Surely what makes you happy comes into it, who cares if there are some people giving you grief over a switch , it's your life to live not there's so who are they to comment.

Funny how Lockyer doesn't mention anything about inglis etc and his previous change of heart over a contract back in the day.

And if a backflip is the worst thing your image will cop that is nothing compared to what some have / are doing.

Look at the high and mighty rubbish Lockyer is trotting

Cherry-Evans will be successful wherever he plays, but sticking true to the Titans will demonstrate his strength of character. He just has to say the words.

It would take more strength of character for Chez to ignore the bullying from the Queensland players and press and stay loyal to the club who nurtured him after he'd been rejected by Queensland clubs.
Most of these players speaking out have spent their whole careers at one club???
Be your own man Cherry.
It's becoming understandable why Manly might be hoping for a deadline. They want him locked in before origin.
None of this crap was aimed at Greg backflip Inglis who should actually be playing for NSW.
Lockyer can get.....

Maybe Darren has run into one plate glass door too many?

Given his own club weren't interested in DCE when he was coming through, perhaps a little forethought would be pertinent before he offers an opinion on what Daly should be doing.

Ashley Taylor linked with Titans, Manly as market for young star heats up

Having missed out on Kane Elgey, Manly now view Taylor as the perfect young half they can rebuild with.

Taylor has received a two-year, $200,000 per season offer, from the Sea Eagles and has privately asked Broncos teammates their opinions on the tug of war over his future.

But the Titans are also in the hunt, with the club tabling an offer to bolster their playmaking ranks.

Taylor’s best hope of playing NRL appears to be at Manly given the Titans recently signed Elgey to assist Daly Cherry-Evans, while Ben Hunt and Anthony Milford could be Brisbane’s halves for the next decade.

Taylor has not asked for a release and it is understood the Broncos are determined to keep a player they have contracted until the end of 2016.

Taylor, Joe Ofahengaue and Jayden Nikorima are the Broncos young guns being hunted by rival clubs.

They are all dominant at the NYC level and have risen up Brisbane’s ranks for several years.

The Broncos had six representatives in the Junior Kangaroos who beat New Zealand earlier this month.

Alongside Taylor, Ofahengaue and Nikorima were Jordan Drew, Jayden Berrell and Jai Arrow.

“We have all come through the grades together and it would be great to all stick together,” Taylor said.

Daly Cherry-Evans viewed as possible Titans captain

DALY Cherry-Evans will be considered for Gold Coast’s captaincy next year after coach Neil Henry declared the halfback was recruited for his leadership qualities.

With Titans skipper Nate Myles headed to Manly next season, the door is open for Cherry-Evans to come to the Gold Coast as their marquee signing and captain next season.

Manly have reportedly made an upgraded offer to keep Cherry-Evans at the Sea Eagles and want a resolution to this saga within two weeks, giving the Titans an anxious wait for final confirmation he will be their man next year.

Henry said he was confident Cherry-Evans had not changed his mind and viewed the 26-year-old as a captain of the club next year.

“He was recruited as a potential leader and is a leader anyway,” Henry said.

“He has shown that leadership, it’s no different for him and he would certainly be part of our leadership group and he has been signed to be one of our main players in that role so that doesn’t change.’’

Myles yesterday declared he would not try to convince Cherry-Evans to stay at Manly, despite claims from Sea Eagles coach Geoff Toovey those discussions would be taking place.

If Cherry-Evans did change his mind, it would put Myles in a very volatile position with the club and fans who would be convinced the Titans skipper had played a role in losing the highest-profile recruit in club history.

Myles wants to end his time at the club on good terms and is committed to performing at his best for the Titans for the remainder of the season, starting today against Cronulla at Cbus Super Stadium.

“My focus is about tomorrow’s game and moving forward during the season,” Myles said.

“It was a little bit embarrassing in a lot of departments last week and we need to bounce back.

“I think something we didn’t take into last week was aggressive running and we need to be on with that and we have to start with our defence.’’

Henry is confident Myles will step up his performances now that his future is sorted.

“Nate is professional enough to get on with the job and he prides himself on his leadership and his performance so I don’t think it will be a hindrance at all,” Henry said.

Titans winger Anthony Don and centre Will Zillman had been in doubt for today’s game due to niggling injuries but both completed training yesterday and will face the Sharks.

Henry said the Titans had addressed the issues that saw them concede 10 tries and miss 42 tackles in the 56-16 thumping from Canberra.

“We’ve had a focus on what went wrong last week defensively and a lot of lack of effort at times. It was more structurally some poor reads opened up space,” he said.

“We had a look at our structure and what we need to do against the Sharks.

“We can’t dwell on 10 tries last week, we just have to worry about a Cronulla side leading into a bye and get another win at home.’’

QLD will continue to pick him because of his talents, the idea that him staying at Manly in a good team will kill his representative career is the biggest joke I have ever heard. Going to a **** team and struggling to perform or live up to his hype where is looked at as the savoir will be more detrimental but still wouldn't kill his rep career. How are QLD not going to pick him when he runs out for Australia with the seven on his back every game in a year or two?

Lockyer is a moron, he is arguing against loyalty in the name of loyalty.

If Evan's want to be both loyal and a QLD, Aus superstar he will be better off at Manly than the GC. This reeks of desperation now.

So let's sum up what Lockyer is saying.
If DCE back flips he:
Will never be a leader.
has no honour.
can't think for himself.
Is turning his back on QLD as a state.
Won't captain Australia or QLD.
Will ruin his reputation and tarnish his image.
Is basically comiting career suicide.
Is turning his back on the worlds biggest opportunity, which is to be the face of QLD rugby league.
Darren Lockyer is a shill. He would rather a QLD club stay strong, acquiring DCE, instead of Manly (rightfully) not retaining him. And lets not forget all of the above is coming from a guy who loved snorting loads of white lightening during his playing days whilst a leader and idol to all the kids out there - he is in no position to be lecturing others from the moral high ground.

White lightening .. Cracked me up. No wonder Lockyer is sticking up for the Titans.

That article on Taylor was a good laugh. The bit about Taylor nor having a shot at the Bronco's halves because Milford will be there for years as the best bit. Milford in a turnstile in defence.

They are clearly so worried that soon there'll be promises of him being Captain, Recruitment Manager, CEO, Club President, the Keys to the City and perhaps Mayor of the Gold Coast.
It's getting beyond ridiculous.

Incredible, mind blowing hypocrisy from the Queensland press. I'd expect nothing more, to be honest, and am not surprised that the leader of the pack is Lockyer.

Thinly veiled threats re QLD and Aus selection... Like you've got a say in it. And like you'll go through with it. Pull your head in Locky, go rack some lines and think about how much YOUR loyalty REALLY cost. Not what your "salary" was but what the whole package deal was.

Hypocritical asshole

I don't like the bullying but I will say DCE has our best offer it's time 2 put it 2 bed once and for all are you staying or going?

Nothing stopping him announcing he is staying or going. The longer he drags it out the more of these rubbish articles will be published.

Ashley Taylor linked with Titans, Manly as market for young star heats up

To me this sounds promising if the Titans get Taylor they have a sensational up and coming halves pairing. Missing out on DCE wouldn't seem half as bad for them. The main concern regarding him staying in Manly is how much the Titans will be screwed up having lost Sezer. This would take a lot of pressure of his Daly.

Well..... That "Lockyer/ un-named ghost writer" article just took this whole saga to a new level. Daly is about to get selected in the QLD team on Monday and that article has officially turned his decision into a state v state matter.

So..... He can either cave into the QLD pressure and throw away the next 2 years of his playing career at the Titans. Uprooting his family in the process but keeping Darren happy.

Or he can just stay at his home and continue to advance his career at Manly, knowing that his family are comfortable in familiar surroundings.

I hope he stays but it really is getting to an absurd level now.
