The Daly Cherrygraph

You obviously did not read all of Bozo's post, as he has achieved plenty in recent years.
Yes, I am a supporter but recognise his best days are behind him.
I try not to be disrespectful to Manly premiership winning legends.
Who cares what he owns …one thing he hasn’t brought home to manly since 2014 is a premiership..that is all that matters

Still not a lot of clarity what really went on between D C E and the Manly management last year in particular .
Some reports D C E wanted or asked for a release at the start of last year , other reports that Manly were having informal discussions with another contract extension late last year .
But tend to think that it was fairly clear from Manly management that the offer would be less then what he was currently on and in the 750 K range and fairly firm on that .
Hard to say the full circumstances of the reports of an early release request if that was actually factual but would certainly think that D C E would have been quite peeved or displeased with Manly "s reduced offer from around the one mil Manly offer at whatever stage

From Manly's or a club perspective , would have seemed a more then reasonable or realistic position with the purported reduced contract going forward for D C E and he would have been fully entitled to enter talks with rival clubs after Nov the i st last year .
Probably did but if he was that disenchanted continuing on with Manly after 25 , why did he not finalize and make public some probable intentions or outcome then
Anyway , irrespective if the or any substantive details of what really went on prior to the start of 25 , still pretty inexcusable for most of D C E "s general conduct and media related and directly harming the Manly club and team cause for this season or from the early stages of this season
Who cares…smile…rub your hands together and just celebrate the fact that the giraffe is soon out of here

Like someone said somewhere in these pages we might have to wait for his autobiography!

Some random medals.. being a captain... he had wins for qld and aus. What did he do for the club that made him the best paid player from 2014 to 2025? Nothing.

A colleague of mine spoke to someone considered very high in the Roosters hierarchy today, and the information received was that there has been no contract or agreement as of yet.
As it stands, the Roosters would gladly sign DCE for one year only for $1M, however DCE wants 2 years guaranteed and is willing to go as low as 700k per season to make this happen.
This is as much info as I know, feel free to disregard it. Just telling you what I heard.

Hmmm 1 year $1m
2 years $1.4m
400k after tax only about $212k.
Think I'd be happy with 1 year

Prefer to look to the positives but looks like still some less then ideal circumstances coming up
Signing Fogarty for 3 seasons which i think would have been not the preferred option by the club .
Then having Walsh who may well have heaps of upside and ready for i st grade next season and able to commit to other clubs after Nov the i st next year
Then with Brooks still on the books for 26 and 27
May have been an easier arrangement for D C E to just have re committed for next season and ideally the transition for Walsh happening during 26 also .
However the way D C E has been performing recently and no certainty that he can go that much better consistently for the remainder of this year and next , would have needed some improved half going around in 26 whether it was Fogarty or Walsh

If he’s willing to take $700k from the roosters, thank god he didn’t take our $750k offer.

Looks like he allowed his issue with whoever it is at Manly to cause him to overplay his hand. On reflection he must feel his public announcement was a mistake and I doubt that he anticipated the blow back which has been fanned by some poor performances leading to him losing him origin position and captaincy. It is disappointing for him and it is disappointing for Manly.

Some 'random medals'???
So winning our best & fairest in 2017, 2020 & 2023 doesnt count for anything???
Give me a break.

It’s fair to criticise DCE and his performances at times, but I really don’t think you can:

1. Blame him for the contracts he signed. At the end of the day, it was the club that chose to offer those deals. If they weren’t comfortable with the terms, they could’ve let him walk. The idea of a player “holding a club to ransom” only makes sense if they’re refusing to play—otherwise, it’s just negotiation.

Yes, the salary cap has been skewed, but who manages the cap? The player?

2. Criticise him for not “winning more” with the club. It’s odd to pin that on one player, as if a single individual can turn a club into a premiership force on their own. If it worked that way, Joey Johns would have more than two titles (and one of those is questionable, thanks to Robbie O and his alleged off-field issues).
