Toddy Knows Lodgey

I don't like the concept of taking away a man's livelihood.
Further reason to let him ply his trade is that it will enable him to pay the court awarded settlement (much more quickly than if he had to find alternate employment).
I think the issue is that acceptance into the NRL should be conditional on employer withholding & remitting % of wages until compensation has been fully paid with interest.

What's even worse is that Todd knew all about his violence against his partner yet Lodge so confidently told Fox that he never hit a woman in his life.

That's where Greenberg shot himself in the foot. Lodge openly lied in his interview but Greenberg would look foolish if he reneged on his agreement. He said he was aware of all Lodges' issues so he can hardly go back on his word.

When you take Greenberg's actions in to account, surely the NRL cannot support White Ribbon Day this year & do it with a straight face. It would be the greatest act of hypocrisy ever seen. But then & again, we are talking about the NRL.....

I honestly think Toddy knew sh-it about the abuse on his ex... He's just figured he's better off saying that he knew and took it all into consideration in allowing Lodge to be registered. Otherwise he'd be forced by the media / public opinion to deregister him in light of this 'new' information. Either way Greensprog and Lodge are both low life lying scum.

I'll say it again .... Lodge's manager, Moses, and Turdy Greenslime are good m8s ffs ... is that not reason enough for an investigation ...

The issue isn't the fact that a man with a terrible past was let in. It's with the fact that the NRLs process to determine he has fully repented is ridiculous and is filled with double standards. Couple that with the conflict of interest in this entire thing between Todd and Lodges manager and it's a downright ****storm.

There's been no evidence of genuine regret from Lodge and no sympathy from him to the victims at all. All of the victims have come out saying that he hasn't done anything to deserve this chance. Yet the NRL have let him in and that too without any plan of action to compensate his victims.

Compare that to guys like AFB who have repeatedly stated their regret and their families are actually happier now than they've ever been. At a time when rugby league needs all the fans that it can get, it really can't afford to reinforce the negative stereotypes that have unfortunately come into the game. For every good kid like our very own Jake, there is an idiot like Lodge giving the game a bad name.

Wonder if Lodge will be selected for the Test Match in Denver? (Rhetorical question).

Greenturd must be sacked. He shows bias, poor judgement and ... um, what's the third thing, oh yer, he's a coont.

I actually saw the interview that Lodge gave in the press. It was very poor. They made it out that he was the victim, he had no recollection of the events, he's never been violent to women before, it was just a light slap (re ex) , and he hasn't been 'convicted' for hitting any women in the past. He wasn't even asked or pressed to answer the question of financial reparations to the victims in the USA, he was allowed to dance around all the hard issues. What made it more ridiculous is that the reporter was a female, I don't know if she was briefed not to push too hard but I sure wish she ripped him to shreds. The guy has learned nothing. He's a scum. Calling it a light slap is a f-cking insult to everyone's intelligence. Greensprog should be held accountable for this blight on the game..

Yeah, nothing was his fault ...... and no apparent remorse because ..... nothing was his fault ...

I agreed but its probably better to have someone that has not been affiliated with any NRL club or subsidiary.
Ken Arthurson would be huge as CEO of the NRL. Great business sense, ex-player and would finally be someone in the NRL that's fair to Manly.

Was Arko as ARL/NSWRL boss so blatantly biased to Manly though? I don't believe he was. The decisions he and John Quayle made when they were in charge didn't benefit Manly (or Quayle's old club Easts) any more than they benefited any other club. About the only thing that they did do was allow then Kangaroos coach Bob Fulton to coach Manly from 1993 after Graham Lowe was forced to resign for health issues.

I think opposition fans and some media like to believe that we got a free ride from Arko, but the reality was quite different. He never hid that he was Manly at heart, but he never let it influence any decisions the league made.

Yes I wasn't implying any impropriety or favoritism shown by Arko ... just exactly what you said perceived bias by media and fans from other clubs could make the position untenable

Completely agree with you there that he was never biased towards Manly but he was one of the few that wasn't biased against Manly either and him being a Manly man would have been one of the reasons why.

Edit: If I recall correctly, the stress from the top job was what caused his health to deteriorate so much. He'd never be able to put himself through that again IMO. Would love Bozo to take the top job though. He has the connections and the guts to make it work with the media. But we'd never hear the end of it from ST's very own either...
