Yes I did thanks Woodsie
Been a long off season
there's always next yearThis is good news. I've been fearful that Manly would have put in all the hard work developing him only for Easts to come along and offer him a brown bag inducement at the end of next season. A one year extension is a sensible offer, but if he fulfils his promises and makes it into the top grade next year then Manly must lock him up for longer.
I would have said a winger, but happy to see the move from halves where he won’t cut it. See if we can tap that talent. Defensive trainer needed though.I think this is a good move. He is a kid who has stuff to learn still but unlimited potential and could surprise in trial matches. Speed is king again in the NRL With Turbo chiming into the backline to unleash Walker or T wright we would be a scary proposition and if DCE and Pearce are controlling each edge .... lookout.
Matai needed a defensive coach when he started and we know how that ended up over time....Wright has much more to offer in attack,so just be patient with his defense early on and we might have something special in time. But people will probably be looking to nail him to the cross the first time he makes a defensive mistake.Barrett wants to coach here for the next 10 years(for whatever it is worth telling the media and fans what they want to hear)but maybe we should let him develop the players he believes in,(seeing as so many wanted him to extend his contract).I get that people are nervous about his defensive ability, when Matai started I wondered if we would persist with his mistakes at centre or take the easy option of hiding him on the wing, glad that they persisted....I would have said a winger, but happy to see the move from halves where he won’t cut it. Did have a fairly good season some great games but I did think Cullen was more dominant in the final and Grand final they seemed to figure him out with close marking in those games when Cullen shined
But glad he has re-signed
