Trump

Have a glance at the comment section of that video and say that you’re proud to be in that company with a straight face.

“Of course he doesn’t want peace, war is too lucrative !”

“if this is true, Zelensky is over. Just share information, and we won”

“Zelenkyys will reject the peace deal. He is making too much money.”

He will reject the peace deal - but because Trump is stupid enough to think Putin won’t just continue the invasion in a few years like last time… you don’t reward dictators otherwise you validate their violence and make future escalation inevitable. Two recent studies: Israel 1940s to current. Ukraine 2010s,

I haven’t given this a proper look yet. First impressions are that this is from some random Turkish article. Why the blue hell do people like you distrust science with all your will (referring to the other recent post) yet buckle to the stupidest sources of information. In the recent post, you admitted that you felt you know better than decades of scientists. I.e critical thinking people = wrong. random Turkish paper or Trump-issued climate report = every word is a biblical fact. While this is bizarre on paper, it’s fairly obvious why you discount anything comprehensive in favour of those conspirational; you want to believe what you want to believe - no need to ground yourself in reality when you can submit to the twitter/youtube/Facebook algorithm feeding you misinformation, leaning into your fears, building blind hatred and encouraging shameless confidence even when discussing topics where you display fundamental misunderstandings (eg. Tariffs)

Look I refuse to call you stupid. Many people evolve with time and a lot of people that get caught up in far-right / far-left think tanks end up breaking free at some point. You have strong passion / loyalty, so there’s some positives to work with. Other thing is that you’re a manly fan and are over Seibold. Perhaps have a short break off twitter/facebook or whatever and watch some documentaries, read some books, etc. if you have a particular interest in a topic (eg. Climate change, tariffs, whatever) then read the accepted science or available statistics (from however many sources), contrast it with your sources and make more informed decisions. Ignoring the susbtance without offering serious, testable theories won't stop legitimate scientists from rolling on ahead elsewhere in the world. Trump's 'proud boys' US can fall behind if they so choose to, but once the dust settles and the authoritarian-fanboys are thrown to the curb (again) they'll be catipulted back to reality

While that’s an exaggeration, the answer is yes they most definitely have done so (i.e addressing predictions from notable early papers on aspects such as water levels, natural disaster frequency, etc. Go to google scholar and you can search for papers addressing older theories; note this also includes cases where studies have since been validated
Here you go. Just a quick list of climate Armageddon scenarios that have not come to pass. There are plenty more - I will let you google at your leisure.

Perhaps it is this type of climate alarmism which is driving the massive and potentially harmful overreaction that is the central premise of the Dept of Energy report? And by the way, one of the reports authors worked for Obama.

I was wondering how long it would take before you reverted to the leftist default setting of perceived moral and intellectual superiority laced with generous helpings of patronising condescension. I give you points for resisting the urge this long.

Umm if this is about me pointing out the comment section on that video… sorry not sorry it reads like a bunch of 12 year olds… Drivel - baseless drivel - and the usual “gotcha now!! Yay we’re winning!!” style comments.

The other thing I did was bring up the irony of you distrusting decades of science in one post and then clinging onto a single, unsubstantiated report from Turkey in the next…

Along with all your other baseless claims and wacky sources littered throughout this thread.

Earth to brooksie, earth to brooksie
Anyone home ?

Maybe you really are no different than every other MAGA stan.

More moral and intellectual posturing. Good for you if it makes you feel better about things. All the best.

For someone wanting a hateful autocratic society you sure do have a problem getting called out for things. From now on will just leave my responses to your Trump bootlicking posts in dot point form w/ only relevant facts or counterpoint statements. Let me know once you’ve left the cult and then we can move past it

Up to now you’re more MAGA than yourself. If they told you the sky was green you’d go get your eyes checked. Then when the optometrist says your eyes are fine you’d say eye science is bull**** because the sky is green and the specialist said your eyes were fine !!

Ok mate, whatever you say. Take care.

Maybe there is hope that the media will start reporting the truth.

  1. 6 republican states have sent national guard troops to DC to "fight out of control crime in DC".
  2. Here is the 2023 violent crime rate per 100K population for Washington DC and each of those republican states: citation (see 'sources' tab; compiles data direct from FBI, CDC, CCJ)
    • Washington DC - 357
    • Mississippi - 203
    • Louisiana - 548
    • Tennessee - 628
    • West Virginia - 265
    • South Carolina - 471
    • Ohio - 287
  3. 465 arrests over the first 12 days of this DC takeover (Fox News...) - 39 per day
  4. The Fox News video you cited includes statements "Democratic strategists realise they are losing this issue as soft on crime accusations pile up" and "liberal media is saying"
    • Note the use of divisive language
    • The statement does not align with the data in point 3 (arrests are down during Trump takeover)
  5. In the video Trump states "did you see what's happening with the restuarants? They're bursting! They were all closing and going bankrupt."
    • OpenTable data (restuarant-booking service operating in region); reservations decreased by nearly 18% since the takeover)
    • This reinforces the notion that people are staying indoors
  6. On day 1 of the takeover a video was recorded of the 'new DC police' lecturing a black man smoking on his porch, doing nothing wrong or confrontat going up to a group of black men smoking on their porch and telling them being told they aren't
Homicide rate evolution with time; peaked in 1991. By 2024 it had decreased by 68.2%. Surged somewhat over covid, but even then it was less than 50% of the 1991 peak.

  • I referenced crime data pulled from fox news and FBI statistics to try avoid this cheap counterargument
    • Have penciled down that 'DC takeover' is another topic you've pulled the 'data's fake' card
    • First time you've gone against Fox News and FBI though, good step for you

I referenced fox news and FBI statistics knowing you would pull that card.

You cannot just hide behind that argument for every single topic
You mean the card regarding the DoJ investigation into falsified DC crime statistics.

Whilst we await the outcome, as per my original post, it is encouraging that even CNN and MSNBC are begrudgingly acknowledging that the crackdown is necessary and appropriate. DC has long been acknowledged as a very unsafe city, particularly at night.

Unfortunately, the militarisation of police forces to combat crime has become commonplace around the world. From personal experience, French paratroopers with sub machine guns were patrolling the streets of Paris 15 years ago.

Take care.

  • If DC is unsafe, why are states with both equal and worse crime rates taking over their police force?
  • You've grouped CNN and MSNBC as fake news in the past. Why relevant now.
  • The claim that CNN/MSNBC acknowledge the crackdown as "neccessary and appropriate" is not accurate. Recent articles from both outlets (you may find the full articles online).
    • CNN "Trump might be better at recognizing fears of violent crime. But as usual, he’s adopted an extreme position, declaring a state of emergency when one doesn’t exist. He has few ideas to tackle the underlying causes of crime."
    • MSNBC "Many of these Democrats have correctly pointed out that D.C. is experiencing a 30-year low in violent crime. But they’ve been hesitant to name what Trump is doing on a substantive level: finding new ways to accumulate powers of repression, surveil civil society and socialize the public to accept the president using the military as a policing tool."
  • That incorrect claim on CNN/MSNBC actually was pushed in the Fox News video you recently posted here
    • i.e. you have gone on to simply repeat that misinformation here and not read CNN or MSNBC to try validate it
    • Note misinformation doesn't mean 100% false; it means misleading information / twisted perspectives.
      • Fox news selectively extracted quotes that noted crime was a problem (noone disagrees with that - ever) and clipped CNN and MSNBC interviews conveniently (you can choose to watch the full interviews online).
  • Trump's narrative to justify the takeover surrounds the idea: "Democrats soft on crime".
    • Were the statistics also fake when Trump was president first time around?
    • When were they last 'real' if your two favourites Fox News/FBI provided the numbers?

Here's a good resource from online (copy and pasted)
  • How to Recognize You're in a Cult:

    If you find yourself:
    • angry and afraid,
    • compelled to “research” outrageous narratives,
    • reacting to others’ humanity and basic facts with self-righteous belligerence and vitriol
    • and have become disconnected from old family and friends

Mate, if you believe Washington DC is a safe place, fair enough. Good for you. I suspect the average US voter would have a different perspective on crime and which party is best placed to deal with it.

FYI, repeated posturing is not the flex you think it is. Perhaps in a moment of self reflection, you might consider how much “anger”, “vitriol” and “self righteousness” there has been in some of your recent posts. Take care.
