Let me guess. Democrats are against anything that tries to address out of control government spending, and are using the threat of a government shutdown to score political points over the evil dictator.

1. It is not as a large of an issue as is made out (still important to talk)
2. Has nothing to do with the proposed shut down.

The midterms aren't far away now, what will be said in the lead up to the midterms will matter far more than what's being said now.
