Agreed whilst jorges hits are brilliant iv never seen him smash a forward like matai did regularly. Plus he smashed gaznier so for me this automatically makes him #1

The george burgess hit was the best.. absolutely creamed the big bastard. Sammy boyle couldn't handle it and got smashed a few tackles later by matai and foran.... ah the good old days

I still have a lingering memory of Matai playing in a premier league game at Brookie before he made his first grade debut. He absolutely belted some guy and then carried him over the sideline. He wasn’t exactly small at the time but he didn’t have much bulk either

I wonder how all the ''modern day' forwards feel. The two biggest hitters of the modern era as voted by the Rugby League community are a Manly centre and a Manly winger.

it’s a big call but Matai is my fav manly player of all time just popping Tooves. Just YouTube him for the memories. He seriously has ironed out so many players. Quality Centre, one of our best. Good on him for getting that award/vote and it just shows what other fans thought too. Jorge learnt the trade from Skiv and to have him voted in at two days even more.
