I was careful not to make the claim that young Hopper can be “the best player in the game”… (Schu has already claimed that position for himself)

In all seriousness it was a nice debut though, looked very confident and strong for a small-ish kid… but, as you rightly point out, it is ONE NRL game - the work has only just begun if he wants to turn a successful game into a successful career…

Canterbury and their defence looks strong, hungry and consistently strong .
Considering they had the worst D 18 months ago.

What has Seibold done to our defence in the last 18 months? It is certainly not on the same planet as the spoon Dogs.
How is our consistency?

Bulldogs are showing our club what kind of mentality is needed. Best Defense in the league. That's about attitude and character.

Something out club literally has none of.

They are ripping in for each other. Our players take the easy, soft, lazy way out.

That's also hard to measure given some teams have played more and / or fewer games than us, too.

Defense.for me is an eye test thing. And my eye test with our team suggests we need to bring back the Ben Walker sandpit for these loafs

The coaching staff have gone all out on this touch football style of a game. It’s failed miserably and only worries other non tacklers. Good sides have no troubles with us. Sadly we are going to have another wasted 3 year term from a coach who didn’t work out. My only hope is we don’t resign siebs and a number of lumbering forwards

Yeah average points gets skewed a little by goalkicking so think tries is cleaner.

Fyi though we are conceding 22.7 per game atm.

Souths worst at 32.2 and Panthers best at 15.4

It goes back to the coach. He leads by example and needs to make all players responsible for defense and the defensive patterns, not just attack.

Seibold has the superior player roster But Ciraldo has the superior game plan
Seibold has his team 11th on the ladder and is currently under achieving as Head coach
Ciraldo has his team in the top 8 and is currently over achieving as Head coach

I’ll rephrase. We are great against lacklustre opponents. Storm were flat, Penrith rnd 1 were likewise. Energetic and disciplined sides have us covered. A couple of good wins sure but many more that were terrible. We are extremely ordinary and our style of play is rocks or diamonds. But hey Siebs is proud and we scored 5 tries. My tip, the dragons score more
