What’s really killing our 2025 season?

I don't think there are any true fans of Seibold. There are those who think he's not a good 1st grade coach, and those who overlook this fact. But no one really believes he's actually good coach.

Our season has been more impacted by our lack of go forward and ineptitude around the ruck. This has imo had a more profound impact!!! than anything DCE is or not doing. If we win the ruck DCE will still do his thing. This is what is really killing our season in combination with the narrative the media has been pushing ( DCE bombshell decision, etc etc. ) which is just about keeping punters focused on them!! despite what the real truth or reality is….

If we had go forward and were dominant in the ruck we would be winning games it is simple as that!

100%. All future recruitment decisions need to be based on that. What 9 and middles can get us on the front foot.

If you aren’t a card carrying member of the Seibold fanboys you know nothing about Rugby League and have deep seated psychological problems. Interesting diagnosis. Class, for next weeks tutorial, please come prepared to discuss the terms “delusional” as it relates to steadfastly committing to a position despite all evidence to the contrary, and “projection” as a debating device.
100% fact
Yeh it's funny how a certain mod who know zero about the game, feels a coach does not influence or "motivate" a player.
It's true players "should" have self motivation, but if the coach loses the dressing room it's common sense this shows on the footy field - well for those who understand the game.
The coach is a Massive part of players mindset and EVERY player will state this as fact and can contribute greatly to whole hearted or weak performances.
Maybe to be objective...we can listen to them.
It's a Silvertails forum and pretty funny someone who adds zero intelligence, can judge others that do

I'm one of many feeling your pain.
I put our inconsistent form down to the players, not Boldy, or any other coach for that matter. When you analyse all the clubs in the 2025 NRL all bar the two on top have been up and down. Take McGuire as an example: He couldn't make the Tigers competitive yet he coached NSW to a rare series win. He is rewarded by an appointment to coach a team with, arguably, the most talented roster in the comp yet Brisbane have been even more disappointing than us.
Can you blame a coach for not motivating/exhorting his players sufficiently, or should it be up to every professional athlete to take the field self-motivated?
Thx "The Who", always good contribution and happy to give you my thoughts.
The simple answer is Yes.
There is still an onus on every NRL player to be accountable for what they doand to simply use the coach every time things go South is wrong, but you will find every player who wants to play for their coach and is "motivated" by their coach, will be a better player for it - Period

The season has been defined by a number of “ happenings “.

The loss of big Paseka was the start
Then the inevitable loss of Turbo
Then the inevitable return of “ half a Turbo “
Then the inevitable injury crises which exposes our complete lack of depth.
Then the captain crises & subsequent “ couldn’t give a **** attitude “
Then the players , “ possibly “ giving up due to lack of leadership.

Others will choose to blame the coach & CEO for everything & that’s their choice but in reality it’s a mixture of everything.

There you go Mark - bringing common sense to the party again & you know that it'll get you offside with some fans.
You need to come to terms with reality & just start blaming the coach or choose just one player, (any player) to blame the fall of the season on. That's how all this works! 😉

I just think it's this club's spectacular ability to self implode one way or another year after year. From rediculous player recruitment to dramas with players and administrators, to insane decisions and the constant stream of injuries to key players. There's no stability in the place and that filters down to player attitudes.

A rehashed list of everything else to blame except the coach. Not sure that makes much common sense.

Are you available to coach Bob?

For minimum wage. Some of my staff would come from the below.

M Ballin
J Lyon
G Toovey
B & G Stewart
Beaver
Cliffy

Turbo and Jurbo would be assured places in the near future.

On a serious note the next coach appointed could well decide the fate of The Sea Eagle.

Penn needs to offer the Clearys a truckload of cash. Or maybe go after Trent Robinson or Bellamy. He should already be talking to some of these.

Buying 2nd hand coaches, or rookies (Twenty) is not a recipe for success. Its not the Manly way.

Imagine if we snared Robinson or Cleary, all of a sudden every top line player might be interested in coming to our club. No offense is meant to anyone, but Seibold and Barrett and 2024 Hasler arent bringing big name players to the club.

We use to be the dominant club in the market place, now we are a joke.

I have said before, if the wheels fall right off former Souths coach Jason Demetrieou is next man up.

We are now Parramatta without the spoons.

I agree Bob. We need a proven coach to instil discipline, pride and respect back in the place. Not sure about Demetrieou - think he would be more of the same. Looked like the senior players were running the ship at Souths when he was in “charge”.

Before you get to our lack of grunt in the front row, compare our extended spine vs the better sides -
A one legged turbo
A disengaged and erratic captain
An extraordinarily slow and non threatening lock
A non creative hooker.
The loyalty shown to Jake and Crocker is admirable but the lack of speed and creativity really impacts the halves and go forward. All our $ is invested in too few. We rolled the dice, we lost. Never waste a crisis they say. We are in one now and I hope the bosses are brave enough to invest in youth and energy. No more aging former stars
