Worst forward pack

Jase's team are the premiers, I hear it enough. He wants to give me 20 start for upcoming game and he reckons that there will be less than 1000 Manly fans there. Hmmm

Playing musical chairs and shifting players around with any of our available forwards is still lipstick on a pig. Our pack is still going to be at best one of the worst in the comp. It's through years of bringing in journeymen who managed when we had some more experienced guys to support them. We are getting what we paid for .....
Good post. It's time to re-calibrate our squad and let go some of the players that show so much promise, yet fail to deliver in the consistency stakes. NRL is about turning up week in week out. Maybe it's attitude, but half a dozen players need moving on. Only the club and coaching staff are privy to managed injuries and I prefer to leave it to them to do what is required. We will be back-for me there are just too many key players fronting up busted or coming back too soon. It is much more noticeable when 2 or 3 very good players look under par through injury. Jamie, snake, Foran, matai, Mateo, Jorge, Lui, Leary...take your pick, they are all not 100%
Tough times-some tough decisions for 2016

Lawrence and Starling will make a huge difference when they return to the side. Without them, our forward pack is very ordinary. I'd prefer that players like Mason and Mateo were used for depth only but these guys are getting regular game time with us.

In the short term, I'd like to see Lawrence and Trbojevic starting with Burgess, Starling and Sao coming off the bench.

The backrow are doing much better than our props and I don't think we need to make any changes there, aside from cutting Mateo.

Bring Hodges in and that completes a list of changes that will make winning games so much easier.

I heard yesterday that Lawrence is doing everything he can to get back on the field this year. They've got him in the hyperbaric chamber, a special treadmill that sits in the water to use, and he has just bought a $5,000 bed, that does all sorts of things? (just what I was told..@;)). His specialist is amazed at his recovery and determination in rehabilitation.

If he makes it back that will be some effort but he seems to be an effort type of guy.
Hopefully Mason doesn't jump on his back like he did to Leary...

I asked Jace the other day do you miss Starling? He paused for a bit, struggled with the name and then said oh yeah, solid but he wasn't really needed. Fair assumption from a Souths fan and Starling is seen as our top prop. This is our problem. Would we care if Lui, Mason, Starling, Jesse and Mateo left? Not really but we would be spitting chips if Jake went. There's your answer on quality.
We have managed to steal two of souths best props. Luke Burgess and Starling.

No wonder souths are struggling this year

Jace said he's happy we took him too. He wants to know have we any more room for some extra rejects to help the cap.

SMH are reporting Sam Moa has been given permission to negotiate with other clubs even though he has a year left with the roosters.

Penrith are interested but i think he'd be a great buy.

He goes straight and hard and makes plenty of good runs for the roosters.

I wonder if we can afford him. Can't have too many good props these days.

Yes! Yes! Definitely need a prop of this calibre! Enough with the bargain short term purchases. If Kelly doesn't jump on this chance, I'd be very disappointed. Clean out some guys if we have to -
starting with Hasson, etc.

Well, I think we'll be shedding a lot of forwards at the end of this season who are not quite in his class, hopefully freeing up some salary cap space.

I doubt he would cost a fortune too.

Reasonably priced i would think but good value.

Hope Penrith can't fit him in and we look into getting him.

Just a quick point - maybe unconventional though more prominant in todays game.
Taufua is a devestating ball runner & needs to take a few hitups other than finishing off backline moves & coming out of his red zone - just get in on that 2nd or 3rd & bend the defensive line & possibly a quick play the ball??
Hiku can also do this & with the style of play we are currently producing, would not hurt them to sometimes float around the ruck to look for 2nd phase & if nothing else, take some heat off the ball runners who will then maybe win a few more contacts in the middle.
