The ASB crew really struggle to answer this.
The most consistent name put forward is Brad Arthur. Who not only has a wooden spoon but also coached the most games without a finals appearance.

I'm all for moving on from Siebold but seriously bashing him endlessly without a solution is more than tiring.

Bring in Toovs quick smart, his record says it all. I don't know who lost more blood for Manly. Players will die for this CHAMPION who is all twice his size. Play his clip every game and they'll all cry. There has to be an investigation to this BULL****TT, bring him home where he belongs Manly..

It’s a fair point , if there was a gun assistant coach somewhere , looking his first grade gig then name him!!

PS: I wouldn’t list Ballin he’s established himself with his new wife ( now pregnant ) in Brisbane and seems to be the heir apparent to Maquire.

So who are the guns waiting in the wings ???

It’s a genuine question which the Seidud crew don’t seem to want to answer.

I would suggest Glenn Stewart, but then again he's not likely available. I would think he would do better than Seibold since he has a smarter footy brain than he does. I would also second Chad Randall, but then again your response would be he hasnt coached or Seibs has more experience than he does. Your acceptance of mediocrity stems on accepting that having skin in the game is good enough than having no skin in the game at all...irrespective of results. Case in point, I think you would accept a coach that has 10 years experience of coaching over someone who doesn't...even if the former came dead last every year. In other words you like taking a punt on losers with experience than a newbie with zero experience, but with potential. I don't understand why you don't follow a team like Norths...always the bridesmaid never the bride, well they're back now maybe you can be a foundation member.

What's nasty about my response Mark?. I didn't resort to personal name calling. I made the observation you settled for mediocrity and that you might be better served following another club, that meets your expectations. But maybe you responded the way you did because the truth hurts. There's nothing in what I said that would make it seem I played the man instead of the ball. I also answered your question which you decided to overlook.

What’s your problem?

You’re all over the place bagging Seibold out & asking for him to be sacked, then when asked a simple question on who you would replace him with you attack the person who asked the question with accusations of accepting mediocrity & all sorts of other crap.

Pull your head in mate, it was a perfectly reasonable question that didn’t require such a sh1tty reply.
 
I see a lot of posters over the years suggesting their favourite players become our head coach and sorry I just can't be having it.

Being a great player doesnt make you a great coach, being a great 'footy mind' doesn't make you a great leader of men.

I'm sorry but IMO you need to do an apprenticeship. Look at the succesful newer coaches like Ciraldo, Fitzgibbon, Webster. Extensive experience as an assistant and lower league coaching.

Coaching is not just the Xs and Os and its not just the halftime rev ups. Its the people management. Dealing with the ego getting out of control, dealing with the player with problems at home, dealing with the veteran who has lost confidence, dealing with the young star who plays great but trains terribly, dealing with the player factions and personality clashes.

A coach needs to know how to keep a team focused when they are in a purple patch and killing teams and know how to deal with a slump.

A coach needs to know how to deal with the media and a fanbase ready to turn in an instant.

A company doesnt hire a CEO without any manager experience and nor should any club hire an ex player and hope they can learn on the job without any experience....case in point Benji.

And not to say I wouldnt take a rookie. I mean, Hannay with his experience, yes!
Glenn Stewart...no.

*I love Gift and if we wanted into the system as a Flegg or NSW cup coach with an eye to the top grade...absolutely.
