Should Hastings be given a go as a starting half in the NRL side?

At least the coffee will stay hot!

I have no doubt a bruhahaha occurred ..... but from that we now have systematic and institutionalised bullying by DCE and Baz, a toxic culture and players not playing for the team .... **** me .... someone check the ball-boy isn't putting chewy on the kicking tee .....

Talk about a bunch of hysterical wee Jessie's ..
How did you know about the ball boy? Sauce?

Interestingly, just this week, in the light of rumours that Moses and Norman were not getting on, Laurie Daley recounted how he and Sticky would have massive blow ups on the field. He explained they were two big egos who both wanted the ball and thought they knew best. Apparently though, once out of the pressure of an actual game, they got on fine.

Solution is simple. Hastings to 6. Let him and DCE work out their differences by batting for the team together.

It was probably just a wrestling session anyway.

The Hastings fight story is now on TV. Channel 9 footy show.

I wonder what TB will say in the presser today when he is asked. That is not putting the team first by deselecting Hastings.

TB should just get both into a room and sort out differences for the team sake. That if TB is a real man manager.

The issue with hastings is not talent he is one the most talented players in the club & has the potential to be an NRL superstar the issue with hastings is that the players would rather play with croker at 5/8 instead of hastings they trust croker more on the field.

The real problem for Hastings is his standing at the club. When you are an experienced and well liked member of squad with a strong rapport amongst you teammates, you can get away with having a scuffle when things get heated at training. Poor Jackson is on a hiding to nothing regardless of who is to blame or who has started/caused this issue because he is not established amongst the squad and the club in general.

he's been here long enough ... Jack Gozieski seems to have established himself with the group .... just sayin

Gee I wonder who has a better view of the situation

The coach who watches every session / detail of play or the forum posters who claim that he should play regardless. It has been pretty clear, for a number of weeks at least, there is more to this than just talent.

What it is I have no idea however there must be some sound reasoning behind it

I'm inclined to give Hastings the benefit of the doubt and think his Achilles injury is the real reason he's out today. His leg wasn't 100% the week before and could well have aggravated it last week.
As for the supposed brouhaha, as Weidler wrote the article, he could well be trying to destabilize Manly by making a mountain out of a molehill.
Whatever differences Hastings has or may have with other players, we'd have to be crazy to get rid of him with no back-up halves. Hopefully some sense can prevail, or we may as well kiss our season goodbye.

The Telegraph are reporting he is not welcome at our club.
He won't be picked for our NRL side.
The team have told Barrett they refuse to play alongside him.
He will only play for Blacktown and is being shopped around.

Manly players refuse to take the field with Jackson Hastings as exit looms

MANLY players have told head coach Trent Barrett they will not play in the same team as utility player Jackson Hastings, who is being shopped around for an immediate release.

It is an astonishing situation where are a side is in revolt over a teammate.

Barrett will today name a 21-man squad for Sunday’s vital match against Parramatta — and Hastings will be missing.

EARLY MAIL: Injuries strike across the league

KENT: The second coming of Luke Brooks

It is almost certain Hastings will be chosen for Manly’s feeder club, Blacktown Workers, who compete in the Intrust Super Premiership.

Unless Manly sustain further injuries to an already depleted playing roster, Hastings will not be chosen in first grade again this season. It is the sad demise of a player with substantial ability.

Club officials claim Hastings’ personality does not fit the Brookvale club.
Manly has attempted to assist Hastings with counselling. Barrett is also struggling with Hastings’ demeanour.

There are suggestions Hastings has “a lack of respect for senior players” and has been clashing recently with Manly skipper Daly Cherry-Evans.

The club acknowledged there was an incident between Hastings and Cherry-Evans in Gladstone last week but deny it was a fight.

Manly players have banded together against Hastings. Essentially, the players don’t want him in the side, placing Barrett in an unenviable position.

The issues with Hastings have been simmering now for several weeks at Brookvale.

He missed last weekend’s match against Wests Tigers with an Achilles injury. He wouldn’t have been chosen even if he was fit.
Sea Eagles officials have started talks with Hastings’ manager, Sam Ayoub, about moving the young utility on to another club.

There has been some interest from the English Super League.

Asked about the Hastings drama, Manly chief executive Lyall Gorman said: “Like all players, we continue to provide an environment and culture where they can thrive.

“But, at the end of the day, if a player chooses not to fit into that then you’ve got to make cultural decisions.

“None of those have been made in the context of Jackson at the moment.”

Hastings certainly won’t be at Manly next season. It means Hastings will have had three NRL clubs by age 22.

One club insider said: “He is off with the playing group. There has been a lot of angst at training between Jackson and certain members of the playing group. This has been building up for a couple of weeks now. He just doesn’t fit in here.

“There is definitely a personality issue there. It’s coming across that there is a real lack of respect for senior players. This isn’t a one-off.”

There is no question Manly believe Hastings has ability and he has produced some stellar stints off the bench.
Manly hope Hastings can rebound and find another NRL club. The Sea Eagles know Hastings has to leave but don’t want to deny him an opportunity to continue his rugby league career.

It is a difficult decision for Manly given officials are aware they have limited player depth this season.

Hastings did have similar issues with previous clubs, St George Illawarra and Sydney Roosters.

In February this year, Hastings told the Sydney media: “I am very competitive, wear my heart on my sleeve, and it probably shows some bad traits at times with the way I handle myself in situations.

“Off-field, I am completely different and pretty approachable.”

Hastings is the son of Roosters
