Righto the cupboard is bare, I have read everything in there at least twice and am looking for something else to read, I don't particularly go in for things like Da vinci code, Stephen King etc none of that stuff really interests me.

Though I want to branch out. I am thinking I may buy the BasketBall Diaries but it's not easy to come across in this 1 bookshop town.

Any suggestions as to books, anything good you have read lately. A title and a little about it is enough. Sick of having nothing to sit and read through.

Dan

The books i have enjoyed the most
War and Peace - Tolstoy
Rainbow Six - Clancy
The Bear and the Dragon - Clancy
Dracula - Stoker
Pride and Prejudice - Austen

Steve Menzies Biography
The Sea Eagle Has Landed

Seriously I would recommend a few:

The Life of Pi
The Lord of the Flies
Brave New World
Atonement is quite good, though very dense.
Q and A is also excellent though it has probably been renamed Slumdog Millionaire (as in the Academy Award winning movie on which it is based.)

Of kid's books, even as an adult, I am impartial to the Narnia Series and Harry Potter!!

For trashy thrillers anything by David Baldacci is good as is John Grisham. Something like the Pelican Brief, Time to Kill, Runaway Jury etc is good by him, not too literary and fast moving.

Dan you could try reading John's Gospel in the Bible too!!!! Good literature and the world's best seller of course.

Matas I might put that on the list

CW already been through 3 of your list

Not at all a fan of Grisham, He writes by template, or framework just fills in the blanks in my opinion

As for John's Gospel, I been there done that twice now.

I went into the shop and first book I saw was Magician, by Raymond E Feist which was one of the best books I have read so I picked it up for $10.

I also saw "My Bookie Wook" which is a biography of that weird english comedian that was on Rove last night, so picked that up. After that I have Twilight it looks to have some promise with some easy reading. I also picked up the Alchemist by Paulo, looks outstanding. But keep up a list here guys I am on the lookout for more always

Sins of the brother about Ivan Milat is an interesting book.

Sounds like I am going to have to put it on my list

Ecclesiasties is a good read.

Dan if you get a taste for Ellis, then Rules of Attraction and Glamorama are worth reading too.  Of course there's also American Psycho but that's an acquired taste (pun intended).

"Don't tell my mother that I work on an oil rig, tell her that i am piano player in a whore house"

Or something to the effect.

Gronk - top 100 sales at present rather than Top 100 books.. I have a list at home of the Top 100 novels of all time - will put a couple more suggestions up.

If you like an alternate view on sports (not the stock standard autobiography's) some good ones are

Andrew Jennings (anything about corruption in sport including FIFA and IOC...)

Playground of the gods (http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/book-of-the-week-playground-of-the-gods--the-fulfillment-of-a-sporting-fantasy-1120653.html) is close to my dream - anything by Ian Stafford is worth a read

How football explains the world is pretty good....http://www.amazon.co.uk/How-Football-Explains-World-Globalization/dp/0099492261

This is what I talk about.....http://www.amazon.com/What-Talk-About-When-Running/dp/0307269191 - i really enjoyed this one....

If any of those tickle your fancy let me know as I can direct you to a heck of a lot more....

this I think will be an interesting thread

The Damage Done by Warren Fellows was an awesome book! (Biography of how he got caught smuggling heroin and his time in Ban Kwang prison

Damage Done is great. I think I mentioned Marching Powder a while back Dan.

At the moment I am reading Kokoda, very good read so far.
