Penrith had a heap of players out if we couldn't beat them tonight at home we are going nowhere this season.
Agreed: but we lost T-red which hurt, and then played Hasson, which is like -20 points. So we did well IMHO

Penrith were horrible and their defence was very shaky, Manly just didn't show any desire to go up another gear in that second half. Were just happy to let Penrith come at them and hold on. When they got behind, they started to move the ball again and were making easy meters and line breaks. That was a huge game and such a momentum killer for the season.

They won it fair and square - we went to sleep in the second half.
A real coach killer.
Yep.
Nailed it Jerry, thought we looked the goods in the first half. Should have been up by another try at least.

Second half was a disaster really. Not much more to say.

We turned up with good enthusiasm in the first 20 and caught Penrith sleeping. We failed to take advantage of that enthusiasm and made some silly errors and poor 5th tackle options despite Penrith staying asleep all that first half. We should have gone in much further in front at half time.

The second half was shambolic. It was mostly a very poor referring performance that saw Penrith giving an absolute lift with a glut of penalties. It usually involved them getting a leg up out of their half and putting territorial pressure on us. It was just baffling to watch the refs pull out a random penalty against us and ignore it when it went the other way.

Referring aside, we fell back into a disorganised rabble in the second half, especially after losing T-Red (are we ever going to get a break from fking injuries?). We did defend a lot better than earlier in the season, but the disorganisation and poor options killed us.

Horo [shakes head]. Would have been a decent game without a few errors and butchering TWO potential tries. What was he farking thinking by trying to throw a dummy at Moylan from 40 meters out instead of passing wide to Jorge? Bewildering really. Mateo also had a shocker, but could give him some leeway as he just came back from injury. Nevertheless, we did seem to lose some momentum as soon as he came on.

How fking stupid was that set up. We had a scrum on half way and instead of busting it up the middle to set up the FG we swing it from side to side and end up with a 5th tackle out near the sideline. very very poor second half from the boys.
What's new? Manly havent been able to set up properly for field goals for ages.

We didn't deserve the win. Really disappointing after the last two games. Back end of the first half felt like the dud team had returned. Refs did us no favours but we should have been up by way more at half time. And Feleti Mateo? Still time for a transfer before Round 13, surely?

Sorry to say it. Poor performance by most of our forwards. Solid Horo only person over 100m. And Penrith had the top four. Great first half but as the second half went on our forwards got tired. Of course Simonds coming off didn't help.

Disappointing. It was like Manly used up all their energy in the first half. They didn't give up at all but the riff upped their game and they got the 50/50s.
We may be just ahead of Parra in F/A now.
Glad we have the bye. Time for some injuries to heal.

Some bad ref calls but seriously we were playing a depleted Panthers side at home, we should have lead by much more at HT and gone on with it easily. Our defence is improving which is good but we need to improve further make the top 8 this year.

Yup, lethargy cost us. Like Dan said, Horo, Symonds when on, Lui i thought played well.

I thought Hiku had his worst game for us. Taufua looked very lazy in the play the ball.

Matt Ballin tackled like a demon, but boy he was behind the pace. Time for Hodges to give him a spell.

Mateo was disgraceful in every facet, which is really disappointing because he's one of my favorites.

The Riff just came out better than us in the 2nd 1/2 they got off the line and into us a lot we just didn't get any play in there 20 tonight and they got a lucky field goal that was freakish in a way but i do think we blew it a scrum on 1/2 way we should have been able to set up for a field goal and we didn't . No quality ball in the 2nd 1/2 and we just didnt get there the effort is a lot better than earlier in the year but lookin more likely a botom of the 8 finish at best

We didn't score a point for last 60 mins or so. Can't see how we were robbed tonight. Symonds injury turned the game because Mateo is not fit and brought nothing but dysfunction to the backline. Where has Cherry's short kicking game gone?

If there is a good thing out of tonight....

The one point loss means we are not on the bottom any more. If we had lost by 2 or more points we would still be 16th.
