Garrick general news thread

His goal kicking percentage is good - but yes it feels he is the sort of guy who will kick 8 out of 8 from the side-line in a game we are dominating in - but will miss easier kicks when they matter more.
Yeah I never mind when he misses a sideline conversion but he has a habit of missing the kicks that are scored roughly halfway between the corner post and goal post. They’re the ones you should kick. He’ll often fade it just to the side of the right post. It’s usually when the score would have moved us to 12 or 18 ahead. Like the Knights game a few weeks back. 16-0.

I agree, also I don't mind so much if it's an away game but at Brookie there's no excuse. That's where you practice from every spots / angles and aiming points of the ground.

I like how he plays in both positions! For mine he’s a must for anywhere in our backline! As for his goal kicking…..better than we’ve had in many many years. As for his detractors…… fu<k them!
Yeah I think he is a top 5 player in our squad, and not just for his skills. He is a terrific competitor and someone with passion for the cause. He’s the closest thing we have to Jake T at the club. I’d be devastated if he was lost to Manly.

More fun wombat facts ... Wombat scored the 1st ever 4 point try in 1983, his final year ... all his previous tries were 3 pointers .. also in the 70's there were 22 games per season as opposed to 24 now.

Which is why I hope for Reubs that if he does go on to break Wombat's record ... that at least he finishes with enough points to put to bed the usual "only 3 points for a try" arguments that come up when an old point scoring record is broken.

The one thing he might face is games played. Wombat played 237 first grade games for Manly. Right now Garrick has played 152 games.

Per game, Garrick currently scores at 8.71 points per game. Wombat scored at 8.08 per game. At that rate he would break Wombat's record in his 221st game, which should be around mid-2028, again provided he scores at the same rate, doesn't get injured and of course remains our goal kicker when Fogarty arrives next year. And of course provided he is even at Manly by then. Who knows what'll happen between now and then 🤷‍♂️
