I'm not standing up to defend Mam's driving, he shouldn't have been driving without a current licence and he had a crash and people were hurt, thankfully not more seriously.
I'm simply commenting on the sloppy reporting that in almost every case has reported Mam as 'driving on a cocktail of drugs' or similar, which implies he was intoxicated at the time. Which there was no evidence of. He was drug tested twice and there were traces of drugs which is an offence - but it's not the very serious offence of drink driving or driving under the influence.
And the fact people therefore - wrongly - assume he was stoned or driving off his face obviously adds to the outrage some fans feel about him.
Not saying you shouldn't be outraged. Just be outraged for what he actually did.
Eg for the intoxication part, you can go back and search Silvertails, you won't find much outrage about Manly player Liam Knight getting clocked doing 139kph in a 70 zone and blowing 0.176, which is over high range when he was a P plater with a zero limit. Mainly just a few jokes about how he tried to dodge the breathalyser by spraying aerogard in his gob. As
@Brookie1973 says maybe Mam's just a terrible driver.
Not all drugs are the same
Not sure what you mean by this bit Frogz?
And do we seriously think no NRL players use illegal drugs? Snake was busted for possession of cocaine. Hopefully it was for his own personal use, not for supply!! But do we think Snake never drove a car for several days any time he used coke? Because that's how long traces can stay in your system and be picked up by drug tests.
driving is dangerous at the best of times, not least because of terrible drivers out there, but that doesn't mean they're all stoned or drunk. People who deliberately drive when intoxicated are increasing the risk of tragedy exponentially, sounds like that's what's happend to Renouf
