General NRL chat

It’s not “sloppy reporting” to say he was driving with “a cocktail of drugs in his system”, it’s what the magistrate said at his sentencing.

Liam knight didn’t injure 3 people including a 4 year old girl. Liam knighted didn’t have a shocking driving record prior to his conviction.

Liam knights conviction didn’t prompt a State Attorney General to publicly question its leniency.

It was sloppy of the magistrate to use that phrase for the same reason I explained.

Anyhow as I said above I've no interest in defending Mam's history of driving infringements or the accident.

And would I prefer to get hit head on by an unlicenced driver, or not hit at all by a drunk driver? Option B please.

But you're missing the point i was making so don't worry about it.

Yes, I admit I am unclear what it is you are trying to say.
With regards to the Mam case, I am happy to side with the presiding magistrate and the QLD Attorney General.

Sorry but I don't believe you. You are clearly literate and have a brain, and anyone with those characteristics can discern from my post this simple point:

Sloppy reporting has continually described Mam as guilty of driving under the influence of drugs, but that's not true. Nevertheless as a result many league fans seem to believe it.

Ok, I get it know. It’s sloppy reporting to quote the presiding magistrate. Apologies for my confusion.

At the risk of labouring the point – here’s the NSW equivalent laws with penalties for first offence

Mam offence
Driving with illicit drug in your blood/saliva/urine (Road Transport Act s111)
Maximum penalty – a fine, plus disqualification from driving for at least 3 months

Renouf offence - Driving under the influence or alcohol or drugs (Road Transport Act s112)
Maximum penalty - 18 months imprisonment, plus disqualification from driving for at least 12 months

(Driving under the influence obviously far more serious)

Your dishonesty knows no bounds!! It's really outstanding!
I didn't say it was sloppy of you to quote the magistrate, I said it was sloppy of the magistrate to use those words which muddy the facts of what Mam was being sentenced for.

And I said I’d prefer to side with the presiding magistrate on this one.
