He's bagging the club to justify his decision to himself. A lot of people make decisions in life and rather than tell the truth about why (this case being money) they make ... up so they feel better about the decision they made. In the end blaming the club makes it easier for him to leave.

You make a lot of sense @Mavin and I think correctly explains why he's bagging the club.

Yes in time he will regret his decision by realising money isn't everything.
And making himself free of blame. Don't know how true it is but I did laugh when Andrew Voss said he'd heard a story that said that his desire to go to Parra came up at a Board meeting and one of the directors was heard to say: "Quick, get me my keys. I'll drive him!"

That would be true. And up until the Penn's bought the majority share, that same director wanted Brett Stewart to go as well. The only reason he wasn't released is because he hadn't asked for one. Had Snake asked for a release prior to the Penn buy out, he'd be gone. The Penn buy out was too late to save Choc, hopefully it has saved Snake.

Is that the same director/ owner that the football club which represents members/supporters stuck solid with and blindly followed this past 5 years ?

RE: Choc 'forced' out of Manly - family gutted

It's time we all moved on, Choc's gone , the reasons why, who caused it, which board members he didn't like is irrelevant.

I'm giving the NEW board and management a chance to take us forward , and also our new players a chance to keep us in the top 4.

It's time we all did that, like many I'm over the whole saga.

Onwards and upwards for season 2015

RE: Choc 'forced' out of Manly - family gutted

When he talks about this "new direction" and it not being what it was and that we were "winning but it just wasn't the same"...what he is trying to say here? That Des left and the culture changed under Toovey?

Why didn't tees fools just offer Glenn a deal and we'd be sweet

Because players don't run THIS club. Why would we give a contract to someone to keep other players happy? Where would that stop employ mums and dad's to keep players happy. Choc is a fool anything he say's needs to be taken with a grain of salt to suggest Arthur is the best coach he has been coached by is just laughable. Hasler,Toovey,Sheens and Bellamy have all coached him yet this clown nominates a guy that was an assistant for 1 year with us say's it all.

I feel bad for Watmough. Why is he still talking about Manly after a days training with The Eels? His hearts still here, is why. It would be healthy for HIM to let go.

I have to admit, I have been in Banking for 23 years, and I sometimes get frustrated that the culture has changed so much. It's just become completely results driven with little thought for humanity, but that's the way life has become in this gen Y society.

I will always think Choc is a club legend. Im not going to rip him a new one, because I know his comments are spawned from disappointment. Im surprised others don't see that as well.

Parramatta have got themselves a great player, and he is playing as hard today as he ever did. Even with all the issues off the field, he still put in right up until the end. I hope people remember that.

The man has an Eagles tattoo on his bicep. That's passion people. If Choc had his way, he'd still be here in my opinion. Always a club legend Choc.

I still feel exactly the same about Foran. Foran has 0 loyalty to the place, Watmough had it in abundance "at some point". Foran's gone anyways, so I'm not even going to debate him any more. His deals already done.

I hope the club's already making their back-up plan for him, like they did with Mason / Mateo & Choc / Stewart.

RE: Choc 'forced' out of Manly - family gutted

I am disappointed that he is no longer with us. I don't think it serves me to hate him or be angry at him for anything that he has done. He played some great years at Manly and helped us win two premierships along the way, and I agree with Ryan; I think he is disappointed that things turned out this way. Sure, you could argue that a lot of it is his own doing, but he is only human, and we don't know what went on behind closed doors. I wish him all the best, and will still enjoy watching his aggressive style of play, even if it is for the Eels.

I'll say one thing out of all of this though; thank god we still have Snake!!

I had my last day at Westpac on Friday - I'm going to ANZ. Westpac gave me qualifications, and I learned so much, about so many things at the place. When I left, whilst I could have gone out complaining & hating, I didn't. Everyone I spoke to, I told how much a loved the place, and how much it did for me.

Right up until the last day, I continued putting in. But, ANZ called me, and offered me more money, and better conditions.

The State General Manager phoned me Friday night, and said, "Ryan, you will always have a home here at Westpac. If you need anything, let me know. Stay attached on Linkdin, so if any opportunities come up, we can talk".

I left because I was missed out on a role I thought I had.

I could have easily complained, been bitter and all that, but in the end, it amounts to nothing. I just really wish Choc went along the same lines. Just bit his lip. I have no doubts his comments have validity. We all know the board at Manly WERE ****house. Imagine working with them every day. What a debacle.

Anyway, that's why I think of Choc differently to the way I think about a bloke like Foran.

RE: Choc 'forced' out of Manly - family gutted

Most people who are bagging him are not bagging him for his lack of passion or going more money. He's coping a pasting because he is now bagging our club.

He claims some things he said were leaked to the media but wasn't he constantly talking to that dip**** weidler and "leaking" stuff as well?

The dog and this bloke could have left with dignity but instead both were doing secret deals with other clubs whilst still on contract. They have no class.

Glenn Stewart on the other hand hasn't said a bad word about the club and I'll regard him more of a legend than the other two.

I can see your angle, but I think Gift will get over his injuries and still has plenty to offer at first grade level. We could have brought Jake T into the front row for 2015, and kept Choc and Gift; along with Buhrer, that's the best backrow in the competition. Everyone at the club is happy, and we challenge for a premiership next season with a harmonious squad.

I think we could fit him in (under the cap), but the board wanted him gone and used cap pressure as an excuse. I don't know why we got in a tug of war for Hiku's services for example. We have Gutho and Tom T coming through at fullback, and Chase Blair to cover the wing.

RE: Choc 'forced' out of Manly - family gutted

This whole thing wreaks of Chocs attitude 'It's everyone else's fault but mine'. Grow up Choc, stop acting like a teenager, go to Parramatta and give them what they signed you for. An Origin/Test player who can lead their pack and teach their youngsters something. That's what the Panthers signed Kitey for (and he did a fantastic job) and if you can do that, I will have some grudging respect for you. Which after the way you have p****ed over everyone on the way out wont be easy.
