What Gift means to Manly is clear from Silvertails activity ... "351 users active in the last 30 minutes"!

Made me come back after a while not here :D ; but i think any of 'the core' players leaving would have the same result

As much as I love Gift, and think he's an all-time Manly great, is it possible his best years are behind him? Hasn't looked anything special this year.

You obviously weren't watching Friday night...

I was at the game on Friday night. I certainly didn't see anything special.

You weren't watching closely then!

Someone remind me how the Roosters fit Minichiello in this year with supposed long serving dispensation? Or is that a myth?

I thought the same.

I'm sure I read somewhere that Mini was given special dispensation.

Easts only dispentation, obviously.

Smash the Raiders!!!!!!!!!

So Matai's suggesting there's going to be a mass exodus is he? Nice. I'm so glad I keep renewing my season ticket.

?

It was sarcasm. as Wamf says:

According to the proven sensationalist, Danny Wiedler, every Manly player is now set to walk out on the club, starting with Matai.

If this is truly the case, then I question what is going on behind the scenes.

One can almost hear greenburg and the nrl powers at be cackling away. Knowing his vendetta against manly and the nrl's desperate desire to hand souffs a GF win just got a double leg up.

With so many star players something had to give, shame it's Gift but that's life under the salary cap, would rather lose a player towards the end of his career than a number of the up and comers, always have to look to the future as we do have an ageing roster.

Not always the case...
Remember Ben Kennedy?
Instrumental in re-igniting the winning Manly culture.

Matai's suggestion was meant to bluff the NRL. It didn't work. Surprise, surprise. The NRL are not interested in what their players want. Who do the players think they are?? Imagine the players thinking, even for a second, that they have anything at all to do with the success of the game! Shame on the players and shame on the fans. Showing a willingness to display loyalty should bring a charge of bringing the game into disrepute.

Now that's sarcasm!! Or is it?? What are your thoughts Todd?

I don't post often but....sad news about Glenn leaving for the Wabbits (I hate those colours). All the best tho Glenn...thanks for the memories.

Will be interesting to see now that it has been announced and the hypothetical damage done to the Sea Eagles if the NRL will change the rules and allow special dispensation.

If you ask me this is conspiracy at work in the highest sanctions of the NRL and their Muppets at the daily terrorist.

And the NRL are wondering why crowd levels are so low. Does it really need to be spelled out.

After celebrating the 2014 premiership with his Manly brothers I hope gifty does a career ending acl in warming up for a 2015 trial. That way he can get the payday he deserves & doesn't have to play against his brothers....

*not for a minute do I really wish this... I just can't stand the thought of him playing for anyone else. All the best gifty. Very very sad to see you go mate. Manly forever...

Absolutely gutted. There are no words. The only thing I'm happy about is he didn't join up with Son of Sam and sign with Canterbury.

Thanks for the memories Glenn we'll miss ya. I'll be there with my family at your last game at Brooky.

Club statement regarding Glenn Stewart:

The Club and players were informed this morning of Glenn Stewart’s decision to sign with the South Sydney Rabbitohs for the 2015 and 2016 NRL seasons.

Stewart, 30, has played 184 NRL matches for the Club since making his debut against the Brisbane Broncos back in Round 3, 2003. He has played in four NRL Grand Finals (2007, 2008, 2011 and 2013), winning premierships in 2008 and 2011 as well as the Clive Churchill Medal in 2011.

The Wests Wollongong junior also represented Australia and New South Wales on five occasions, three times for Country Origin and once with the PM’s XIII in 2009.

Sea Eagles General Manager David Perry has acknowledged it is disappointing that the club was unable to retain Glenn and thanked the premiership winning forward for his service to the club.

“Glenn has not only been a quality player but one of the influential leaders that has driven recent success for the club over a significant period of time,” Perry said.

Sea Eagles Coach Geoff Toovey also paid tribute to the service Glenn has provided the club with since he debuted back in 2003 against the Brisbane Broncos.

“Glenn has been instrumental to the successes of the Club for more than a decade and I’m glad that he now has comfort in knowing his future is secured.”

“It’s been an emotional time for many at the club, but I hope this can help ease the pressure on Glenn and now that his future is secured, he can focus back on enjoying playing in the NRL with his mates.”

Stewart said he was disappointed to be leaving the club he has called home for 12 seasons.

“It’s unfortunate that circumstances have forced me to leave the Club that means so much to me, but I’ve loved my time at Manly and will be giving my all to the very last minute – that can be assured,” Stewart said.

Stewart also took time to thank the members and fans for their phenomenal support over all the years.

“The support everyone has given me over the years has been immense,” he said.

“It’s going to be an odd feeling when I do have to come back to Brookie next season in a different jersey, but I will never forget the support the members, fans and supporters have given me over the years.”

Hopefully Dave Smith and todd Greenberg are posthumously awarded the 'services to Rugby league' Dally M this year.
lol. No surprise the other clubs don't want to change the loyalty allowance just yet, they are all hoping to pick up some of Manly's champs when they get squeezed out.
