Cleary was the one defining factor in that game. His worse put them in the hole, and his best pulled them out of it. That was incredible to watch how much influence one player had on a game.

I was watching the game with @AlxFromNthNarra, and midway through the second half I said Cleary needs to step up otherwise he might go down as the greatest half that never was. He failed to get NSW over the line the last couple of years, and has been in a stacked Penrith team. Then he just exploded. The most Joey like performance I’ve seen from a half in a big game for a long, long time.

Great grand final. Most enjoyable I’ve watched not involving a manly win!

In that second half at least, I thought the pennies lesser lights were being shown up and exposed #15 & Sorensen. But the big boys stepped up like they needed to.
