Since Brown has apparently been told he can look for another club for 2017, and we know Parcell is off to Leeds (good luck kid), I have a feeling, like others here, that Hastings has been brought in to play hooker with Api being earmarked for the utility role.

Hastings, if he does play hooker, should fix our goal kicking problem. Walker is ok as a back up and DCE is there if needed, but neither are what you would call first choice kickers. Plus with his passing ability he covers the loss of Parcell, and from what little I saw of him this year he's not a bad defender.

Personally I don't think we're looking too bad for 2017. Of course, they still have to gel as a team, but I think we can at the very least be top 8 contenders.

I posted a few days ago that the Parcell trade would see another player coming in. Why else would they get rid of him? I'd been hoping Manly would look at Hastings since it became known he was on the outer. And I also am of the belief he could become a seriously good hooker. His passing both ways is top shelf and he's a good defender. While he's not super quick, he definitely has a bit of toe and he's not small either about 94kg.
Big Kev,I agree with you, there is a potential negative, but the upside on this signing could be huge......We signed Parcell on a upscaling contract which meant the better he did the more he got paid over the years,he got cut after year 1 which means we pay little and reports mean we get a transfer fee from Leeds. We have got a guy with massive upside and no risk to us.At worst we have a guy on the cheap who can fill in at 9/7/6 and can organise and is a good goalkicker......FM but who can't use a guy with those skills. At best and I mean at BEST, the POTENTIAL for this guy is huge, the reason I highlight potential and best is because the difference between reality and potential is massive. As a hooker he is a big unit at 95kgs but will need to work and prove himself capable defensively, but Bozo/Barrett are banking on Trbojevic/Taupau/Myles/Lussick slapping him in the head and getting him into the real world....However he has an excellent passing game, vision, outstanding kicking game and a great goalkicker. He is not a bench player,he can offer no impact as a hooker off the bench, and as a kicker/passer what is the point of playing him there as he can only replace halves,if there are no injuries to the halves who can he replace?I think he will be competing for the starting number 9 spot and Api will be coming off the bench. So many people on here have been claiming we need to sign a big name number 9 for next year, but I think this is a huge signing as there are no real big names out there after next year, the club has stated that they want to view him in the long term and IF he fulfills his potential(reports are he is an egotistical meglomaniac) we may and I repeat "MAY" have the next NSW hooker and potentially the best hooker since Cam Smith came along....Remember that Bozo loves an ego and a guy with confidence.....

Be tough to leave Lloyd Perrett out, but that's a fine side. I'd dump Myles for Perrett.

Put that in ya pipe and smoke it! Well said mate.

Yeah but if anyone drops out of the 17 I named for Perrett I am guessing it won't be Myles. Lane maybe, but unless something changes.....I can actually see Myles starting over AFB.

Interesting aside with this - Hastings has known Baz since he was a kid, so this appears to be a Baz signing, signed off by Bozo. So is there really a Baz/Bozo furs, or is the Baz/Bozo barney BS..?

I don't get it.
Manly sacks Liam Knight for reasons unconnected to his footballing ability, and continues to sign blokes who have similar off-field discipline issues. I give you Hoppa, Meehan and now Hastings.
Then, I read that they might play him at hooker, where Parcell should be!
Our 2017 team is mainly going to comprise off-casts from other clubs. They couldn't make it with our opposition yet somehow we think they will be good for us.
Yet another reason to withhold my membership for the first time in a decade. That doesn't mean I won't support Manly, which I've been doing for 55 years, but I'm just not feeling the blokes in charge have a plan.

I remember when Arko signed Ron Gibbs & Cliffy Lyons the media went a bit skitzo asking what is Bozo and Manly thinking by taking on these two wayward & ill disciplined footballers. Turned out Bozo spotted some rough diamonds where no one else did.

Hope he works out. Has a bit of a Barba/Carney feel about him to me: a ton of talent but hold your breath and wait for the inevitable.
Actually I won't hold my breath, that'd be silly.

For the tin hats ....... Bozo is a mate of his old man.
Aah yes...I remember one of Bozo's ghost written columns in the Mirror back in 1979/80, talking up Hastings and Fairfax as an Australian halves pairing, if the selectors grew sick of Tommy and our own Thommo. Comedy gold from the great man. Although I did rate Horrie as a player. He was a very good footballer.

The forum was going off!

Absolute lemon and prime dickhead. Roosters have been shipping him around since middle of last season and not a flicker of interest from anyone.
Did anyone here actually watch the guy play last year !! They basically lost every game where he was running the show.

Is there any possibility we could actually purchase or produce an actual hooker. Our options are now AK
Brown Hastings Gidinet and Cullen - none are natural hookers.its ridiculous. Have a look at sides who win premierships. They have specialists in their spine!

As for club culture are we putting together a bikie gang. We have lost all our leaders recently together with some quality humans off the field and replacing them with test cases.

Not sure where we are heading but if Jackson Hastings is seen as our long term 9 it can't.be good.

He's 20 and has played at every junior rep level there is, so I think the talent is there. Even Gus Gould said this was a great move.

I've got a feeling your last name might be Parcell @;)
